did we ever have the "dreams" conversation? surely we must have. it was my favorite song for years and years and years. it's hard to peg exactly why, because it's really rather quiet and i am usually a big dramatic song person. mysterious.

in my junior-high days my parents would deign to play only some of my cassette tapes on long car trips (they vetoed, for example, bat out of hell) and rumours was one, so it is the sound of many highways to me. i know it all the way through to this day.
