*applaud* Beatles, I should have expected that. I am surprised I didn't, since I do know about the whole British Invasion thing, but I guess I just am not sensitive about time. Really appreciate the notes you included for this chap. So that's what Simon was talking about.

Speaking of which, I adore the Rymon part in here. Simon is so sweet to bring Ryan to Britain and making Ryan so happy. :) That soft spot in Simon always make me smile.

As for Cake, they are just so lovey-dovey, I cannot believe Blake was a flirt in the past. He is just so satisfied with Chris now.

"Don't set the beast loose if you can't handle it."
SO DEAD. YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE THAT AS A SIDE STORY. RAWR.

"So round," putting a hand on one side of his ass, "so firm," he raised his other hand to the other side, "so fully packed," and he sank his fingers into the flesh, the flesh that was his to hold, which was a fucking amazing thing when he really thought about it, as he was right now.
THE BUBBLE BUTT. I can just imagine the feel. *dead again*

Finally, he ( ... )

Thanks! I'm so glad. I was worried about the wonkiness!

I cannot believe Blake was a flirt in the past. He is just so satisfied with Chris now.
Satisfied is the word--it's like he was looking for something before and now he's found it. He's still a flirt, just a LOT calmer about it.

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE THAT AS A SIDE STORY.
I'm actually thinking about it. It wouldn't have fit here, because it would have made the whole chapter lopsided, but I may well write it up and post it at some point!

Thank you SO MUCH!

I love romantic Blake. He's so "reformed rakes make the best husbands."

Thank you!

I love the part where Blake & Chris 'discover' the Beatles. It's like you, as the reader, know that they're on a precipice of arguably one of the biggest music revolutions of all time, and yet they're so blissfully unaware.

I'm just glad this chapter reads as being "about" something; I suddenly was worried that I'd ended the story three chapters before the actual end!

Okay, so I read the first chapter of this story when you first posted it and loved it, but for some reason decided not to read any more of them until you were done or almost done, so I'd have a good chunk to read and wouldn't be all twitchy with anticipation. And I'm actually really happy that I did that, because I've just read from chapter two through this one in one sitting and I am beaming.

I adore this, Clio love. Beatles - I knew it. XD And you really have Blake and Chris' characters completely set. And of course, you always have Ryan and Simon's down as well. I was glad to see them all so prominent here. The pacing of the whole thing is just wonderful, and I cannot wait to see what happens next. :D

Aww, thanks so much! I'm so pleased you're reading it because there ARE a few things I put in here thinking that you might--one is in the first paragraph of this chapter, and the other you might guess, but will be revealed more fully later.

Julie really pushed me to a darker Rymon place, and I don't think I could have written it before the African Honeymoon because it was too painfully close to what I thought was actually going on. But now that they're like, practically making out on national television--and not even I-can't-help-it fucking, but adorable and honest and mutual affection--it was a little easier to go there with very sad Ryan and trapped Simon and all of that.

As for Chris and Blake, well, as you've found, they actually move around quite well. Once a rebel, always a rebel ...

I'm so pleased that you like it! ^_^

Ha! Yes! The first paragraph, I was all, "Sanjayaaaa!" XD Hmm. Now you have me wondering if I've already guessed what else. I've read but haven't commented yet on your latest chapter - was it in there?

That's incredibly understandable about the Rymon. I think if the African honeymoon hadn't happened, it would be too painful for me to read this darker side. But I like it. It's...well, realistic. :)

a young kid with a funny name who was even more of a teen dream than Ace. Cowell was testing a lot of stage names, but "Sunny Mack" was the one that was sticking.

best. thing. ever.

i love this chapter so much, and not (just) because of the hot sex and the well-deserved tribute to blake's ass and all the rest of him. i love that ryan got to meet mama cowell. i love how we know things the characters don't know- it's such a neat perspective. most of all i love chris planning a new venture and blake being ready to follow- it reflects the trust they already seem to have in each other IRL.

(and that was a fascinating article. it reminded me of when creem got a singles critic and it was ok when he liked rem and bowie but when he started writing about how "let the music play" and "dress you up" were great records the letters section went bonkers. it's an interesting question...as one of those people who go on and on about bruce springsteen i do tend to think there's a higher plane for artists who are ABOUT something, but public ( ... )

I think there is, well, there is credit for being "about something" as you say. But I think there is also credit for being a well-constructed pop song, which the rockists cannot stand for the most part, but which really has come back with the resurgence of Bacharach (championed by Elvis Costello, hello). The records between Elvis and the Beatles used to be dismissed by the rockists, who had no time for people not writing their own stuff and saw it as a big factory. Which it was, but that didn't mean that the stuff they made wasn't good. Hollywood was a factory, too, but the movies made during that time were some of the best ever. The real problem with factories is that they don't change with the times--like the bad late-60s musicals I was talking about last night, or really the end of this era. (The nice thing about Idol is that the acceptance of Blake clearly signals an ability of that factory to adapt--and note when Simon let go of his preconceptions and accepted what Blake was trying to do ( ... )
