What a great chapter. <3

Also, for some bizarre reason, the slow Neil Sedaka has the right title and author tag, but it's actually "What'd I Say"?! Is that just my iTunes being really weird, or did something get screwed up there?

No, it's either my itunes or my garage band uploading the wrong song. Thanks for the heads up and I'll fix it when I get home in an hour or so!

Oooh, Chris as an artist. Great twist--I'm interested to see where that will lead, I mean how that changes things if it does. Blake's "unreadable" expression of course immediately got me.

I continue to be fascinated by the way you weave all sorts of real career stuff into the story, particularly with Ryan because I can totally imagine him as a 60s DJ a lot like Dick Clark. (Now I'm totally going to flash foward to RadioFriendly!Ryan hosting New Year's Rockin' Eve in the 80s...)

Blake and Chris dragging the tree reminded me of When Harry Met Sally. Awwww...

I love the setting of their Xmas party too. Maybe because my company's Xmas parties have gone from fancy hotels to bars too since I've worked here.

I've been thinking as I write this that I can't wait to watch Ryan age as I feel it will be completely fascinating to see what he does as he gets older.

Thanks!

He worked punishing hours, he was engaging and popular with the kids, and his local afternoon"record hop" television show had just been picked up by the young ABC network. Dick Clark was definitely looking over his shoulder at Ryan.
I'm definitely madly in love with the seventeen different implications of this sentence. Poor Dick Clark. :(

You really have me far beyond the idea of researching 60's hits and Spector Sound artists; now I want to do an in-depth research and exhibition project on the influences and effects of all this music connected with New York and pitch it to the History Channel or something, because all I keep thinking about now is Little Eva and Carole King in a Brighton Beach bungalow where crazy music magic happened. Your fic does way more than just make me want to read more, it makes me want to learn more and contribute to the dissemination of this knowledge to the world. :D

And on Christmas day, thanks to a tip from Elliott, they were going to go see a movie and dine in Chinatown.
OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU. * ( ... )

i KNOW. (you know what i found out the other night, googling? gerry goffin was one of the first people to take an interest in kelly clarkson. he hired her to do demos before she even tried out for idol. is that synchronicitous or what?)

i adore this whole period and i went nuts when clio said she was going to do this. and it's even better than I thought it would be.

Given that I'm going to spend the rest of my life teaching that's a pretty major compliment! yay!

I'm really, I can't even tell you, I'm so pleased that you like it!

I like your notes almost as much as I like the story; they always make me smile.

This chapter was wonderful, as they all have been.

I love Sligh's little bits of humor, I love Ryan, I love Simon's suggestion (and I love Taylor in that scene), I don't so much love Blake's unreadable expression, but I'll wait on that one.

And of course, I loved Blake&Chris.

"Can I sing one of our songs?"
"You think I'd let you sing someone else's?"
&hearts &hearts

and

"So, after dinner, can we make a snowman in the little park across the street?"
"This snow thing is never going to get old for you, is it?"
"'Fraid not."
"Fine, as long as we take a bath to warm up after."
"There's cocoa in the cupboard"
"And brandy"
"Sounds good ... But no Santa until tomorrow."
"That Santa, he only gives you presents when you've been good ... But I'll give you a present for being bad."
"Ho ho ho"
Hee! and &hearts.

I'm so relieved people like the notes! I was so afraid about them like this was going to be the wonkiest story ever.

I love how out and out pandering Taylor can be. I mean, it annoys me, but at least he's sincere in his insincerity.

Thank you so much!

What a great chapter!

I love that little twist of Chris becoming the artist, singing Blake's and his songs. The "unreadable" expression of Blake is very intriguing... I can't wait to read where that'll lead them.

The tree, the snowman, the "I love you" are way too sweet!
