Police-Band scanners, shortly after the announcement, indicate reports of automatic weapons fire in a warehouse district.

Todd isn't very often in San Francisco. He's only here today because the San Francisco Youth Center needed some supplies from his own center in Los Angeles. He'd volunteered to drive them over, and was glad he did when his JLA communicator went off.

Ras' plague...He'd been one of the ones helping fight it off, as his shadow powers boosted his own resistance to it. And here someone was trying to unleash it again? It made his blood boil.

Merging himself with the shadows, Obsidian creeps through the building where the police have gathered. If he's careful, he won't be spotted. If he's not, well...he's only a shadow.

The police haven't yet been able to narrow down precisely which warehouse the shots came from, having only just arrived, and the area has taken on an eerie quiet quality as they canvas the area. Todd is easily able to slip by the police unnoticed.

Many of the warehouses are occupied, and quickly ruled out as the source of the shots. One mostly-darkened building, however, is a standout as a likely location.

Intangible in this form, Obsidian's entry into the building isn't hard. He keeps himself a shadow as he creeps along the walls of the buildings, looking for anything out of the ordinary, and listening for more signs of gun-fire.

The first thing that Todd will discover that is out of the ordinary is a corpse. The body of a man, dressed in blue military fatigues, lies face-down in a pool of blood, which has mostly congealed. Near his hand is an AK-47. He has several other hostile-looking items on his belt - grenades, and a large knife.

San Fran is a fun city. It's near the Tower and so Mia has often thought of it as her vacation, get away city. But every so often it's a city to work in too. The Star Lab that got busted into was here and now gunfire.

"Not that one it's occupied. Not that either, I'm betting on that one. It's dark and kind of creepy." Mia thinks as she slips alongside her choosen building, keeping one eye out for approaching cops, just because that's always awkward. She crouches and checks out the entry way to make sure it's clear and slips inside.

The archer's keen eyes may notice that the security system that once protected this warehouse has been destroyed - the panel near the door riddled by bullets. There's a smell of spent gunpowder in the air, but the building is quiet - except for the faint sound of a man struggling to breathe.

Speedy moves toward the sound of the injured person still keeping watch for anyone else. Whoever did this was not shy about spending bullets and she would prefer not to be shot again.

The warehouse is piled high with boxes in various sizes, providing a maze of sorts to navigate. The man who barely clings to life is not difficult to find, a large knife buried between two of his ribs. Speedy may or may not notice the other her on the scene, though..

Several objects clatter onto the floor in the vicinity of our heroes - fortunately, these aren't grenades - the magnesium flares sputter to life, producing a sudden, blinding illumination in the area.

It's followed by the sound of an ammunition clip being snapped into place.

Obsidian feels the shadows fade from his person as the light clears the darkness from the room.

Then he hears the clip.

"Get down!," he yells, and grabs Speedy. He dives behind a nearby forklift, hopefully just in time to avoid the rain of gunfire.

The gunfire punctures the quiet of the warehouse, counterpointed by metallic 'tings' as the bullets ricochet off of the frame of the forklift.

"Devils!" shouts an echoing voice on the other side of the blinding flares.

One thing's for certain, the police should be here soon - they had to have heard that.

Diving away seemed like a good idea so Speedy let herself roll with Obsidian's grab, taking cover behind the forklift. She may not be able to see the shooter due to the flares but she can hear him and besides one can figure out what direction the bullets are coming from. She pulls back and waits for a pause in the hail of bullets.
