Who are you?

The Hermes Ballroom is packed with congoers, some in street clothes, but most in spandex, silk, leather, or the more humble cotton, plastic, and vinyl, in a riot of colors. There are Supermen, Wonder Women, Wonder Girls, Superboys, but the predominant colors are red and yellow, for Flash and Kid Flash.

black canary i, blue beetle, capecon, oracle, frankenstein, troia, superboy, flamebird, beast boy

He'd helped Booster rebuild that battlesuit of his, so it was an easy feat to construct a replica that was perfect in every detail - minus most of the technological innards, of course.

Following a brief internal debate in his hotel room about the complete and utter lack of dignity involved with this, Ted decided to go forth.

Ted wanders down to the costume contest, in full Booster regalia.

"Of course, it'd be funnier if Booster were here in a Beetle costume, but.."

He hears a chuckle behind him, then a click and a flash of light.

"Oh, I'd recognize that laugh anywhere."

He turns, and flashes his best imitation of Booster's grin. "Care for an autograph, ma'am?"

She flutters her lashes at him and simpers. "Oooh, really? I'd love one!" The facade doesn't last for long, and she laughs. "How're you doing, Ted?"

"Hey, look at the cool costume! Who's he supposed to be?"

Fanboys start checking through costume encyclopediae and Foley's Guide To Capespotting, trying to place the seven-foot-tall greenskinned man. A couple of people whisper "Solomon Grundy" but are immediately dismissed with disdainful looks. As he strides through the crowd, though, he's forgotten moments after he passes by most.

Which is to the general good.

Hospitality head snuck down here delivering a few trays of goodies for the event judges. She BEAMS at the costume. Mary Shelley is her favorite author, so this costume (and that cape) always has her vote. He gets a "thumbs up," sign as she moves through the crowd.

Dude, was there ever a question? Of course Kon wasn't about to miss a chance to gawk at beautiful girls in full superhero costume.

Kon slid into the room, cracking and popping the peice of chewing gum he'd popped into his mouth a moment before. His eyes locked on the green-spandex wrapped behind of a beautiful girl dressed like Fire.

At least, he hoped it was a girl. She looked like one from the back, but there was that guy dressed like Zatanna from earlier. He was still shuddering a little.

"You kids get younger every year," said the original Black Canary wistfully. A ghost may not need to breathe, but that doesn't take away the need to sigh.

He walks over and examines the girl closely. She doesn't notice him, of course, as he is not really there. But.

Hm. She's had work done.

"Oh, great. You again."

Kon kept his eyes glued to the swaying hips of a girl in a barely-there Black Canary costume.

"This really isn't a good time, Lex," he muttered. "Trying to think about hot girls in spandex. You belong absolutely nowhere in that equation."

Wearing a blonde wig when she herself is blonde seems strange but it is a costume and Black Canary, all of the ones she's seen of the original one, has a lot more hair than Bette has had in years. It is strange but for some reason coming out here in this was harder than coming out here in her own costume would have been. Maybe because she's trying to look like someone she isn't at all. Maybe because she's used to there being more than a domino mask to a costume, but... Well.

Here she is.

Bette pushes the nervousness back, takes a look down to make sure the bits of padding she's added here and there to make things look the way she thinks they should. And then she moves on through the area.

A rather short Guy Fawkes enters the ballroom, a beer bottle clutched by the neck in one leather gloved hand, the other holds a lit cigarette. The keen observer will note a hole having been drilled in between the lips of the mask.

"Guy" looks around once then heads for the bar, black cape swishing behind.

"Whoa. Awesome costume!" A flash of light.

"Guy" flinches from the light having been caught completely off guard. The black figure stands motionless for a half a moment before sweeping into a deep, theatrical bow, the hand with the cigarette held out perhaps a tad more gracefully than was expected.

"My thanks! But, pray, excuse me. I fear the bartender has misplaced the beer and I have promised to help him find it."

With that, the cape is swished once more towards the bar.

"Dude. The case of the missing beer!"
