Fawcett City -- Descending

There's distant thunder in the air. Jim Gordon looks up from the body of the dead old man, startled by the booming ruckus. With a grim resolve, he turns away from both the window and the body and turns his attention to the throw rug on the floor. With a nonchalant kick, he pushes it aside, revealing a trap door ( Read more... )

The eager young woman in front of her wants only to know if her upcoming marriage is fated to go well, a common enough question. Indeed, Madam Xanadu is pleased at what the cards tell her -- a long life for both, three children, and ... and ... nothing. They're just cards. There's nothing there. She can't .... she can't see...

The blackness closes in on her mystic sight, blinding her to the world. In darkness, she screams.

The first thing Felix Faust notices is that his wards -- the ones that keep the Society from being detected by mystic forces -- are blinking out, one by one. The second thing he notices is that his circulation is slowing, and that he's short of breath. Desperately, he rushes from his bed to the mirror in the bathroom. What he sees is an old man's face staring back at him -- the man he'd be if he'd not used magic to ward off the years. Arthritis creeps into his hands and joints, and a sharp pain in his chest knocks him to the ground.

Watching from the where the Rock of Eternity once drifted, The Dark Lord's vision into the realm of Earth is suddenly blocked, as if magic no longer touched that plane. A moment later and he is able to peer into that world once more.

The implications are disturbing. Fate must be moving faster than he had calculated. Perhaps it was time to send in reinforcements...

She was still shaken after the visit from The First when the disruption hit. It wasn't so much that she felt it...more like everything in Shadowcrest suddenly went nuts. Let's just say it was not a very safe place to be for that moment.

She's just about had it with things after the past month and once everything seemed to go back in order, she let herself shake at the kitchen table and cry...a lot.

There's a little *phtt* sound, and Corrine Bertrand disappears.

It's some moments later when she returns, staring at her hands.

Erm.
