Jay shrugs silently. He doesn't look hopeful.

He squeezes Joan's hand.

Jay's silent assesment is depressing, but neither is it surprising. Ted shits uncomfortably.

"I need to go find the head. I'll be back."

Rick claps Ted on the shoulder as Wildcat makes his exit. He's not sure what to say either. He finds a chair and joins Jay and Joan in their vigil.

He wishes Miraclo worked on others.

Todd walks into the room with flowers in his hand. Spotting the JSA members, he pauses.

It's not for long, though. He puts the vase beside Molly's bed without a word, and then has a seat.

He doesn't really know what to say.

"Thanks for coming, Todd," Jay says simply. He moves to the young man and places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Todd looks up into Jay's eyes. With just that, he knows that it's all right for him to be here.

"Jenny said she was coming too."

Todd's eyes return to Molly in the bed. She's always been just another person to him. Alan's wife, not Mom. Not stepmom. Not even Dad's wife.

But right now, he's praying with all he's got that she'll pull through. Dad can't be dead. His wife can't be, either.

Jay nods. "I'm glad to hear it."

Alan loved Todd. No matter what happened, Jay knew that Alan loved his son with all his heart.

Anyone who wants to kick Todd out will have to go through Jay.

He leaves a hand on the young man's shoulder. "Have a seat. If any news comes about your father, I'm in the loop."
