I can easily deal with him having his own agenda but her having a third one on top of it is difficult to juggle. Let's pare down the players here and get to the nitty gritty

The stones return to their former position. "What's the matter, Circe?" drawls a voice from behind her. "Ares no longer able to get it up for you, so you have to tear other things down?"

"That was my warm-up, hag." Both hands up now, and a wild wind, bearing the scent of the sea, whips up around them. Somehow, no matter how it twists around the two, Aphrodite's hair continues to look fabulous.

Well she knows one way to make the goddess absolutely livid.

Taking no action against the wind she muttered a spell that caused Aphrodite's hair to catch fire.

The Cyprian's shriek is ugly and wordless as her hair begins to blaze. Clouds gather overhead, and rain pours down to quench the flames. "No more warm-up!" screams the angry love goddess. "Time to lay you cold in the ground!"

The thorny branches of the lime tree, Aphrodite's tree, spring up around Circe. They begin to coil tighter and tighter around Circe, constricting with bone-cracking pain as the smaller branches jab into her flesh.
