Demon Hunt: Epilogue (cont’d.)

Nov 11, 2005 21:36

They had a plan now. Caleb had realized that the amulet had returned Jeremy to life, and Corrine had come up with a theory - a good one, from the sounds of it - as to how they would go about giving Jeremy a soul.

Caleb and Corrine make their way from Fate’s study to the medical bay, and over to Jeremy’s restrained, heavily sedate body.

Dr. Mid-Nite is, as usual, in the lab, but he's at the main computer terminal, trying to process some unpleasant information he's gotten recently, hoping he can find some leads...

*Caleb’s eyes take a second to adjust to the darkness, but when they do Corrine on the ground is the first thing he sees. Without even thinking, he kneels down as to grab Trevor by the legs, and then stands in such a way as to be holding Trevor at his own chest level. With all the caution he can muster he quickly lays Trevor down on the bed, and then runs to Corrine’s side.*

*Arriving, he drops to his knees, preferring to let his knees absorb the impact of his body weight and then stop his momentum rather than slowing down, and thus taking more time to get to Corrine. He places an arm on her shoulder.* “Doctor!”

Cross has to steady himself on his chair, dizzied by the swirl of light and energy... taken aback by what's transpiring... but trying to stay focused, in case anyone... anyone needs help... good god...

He shakes out of it.

"Y-yes?"

*Taken back by Mid-Nite’s dazed, stunned silence, Caleb gestures downward to Corrine. Who, incidentally, is still shaking uncontrollably.* “We have a, uh .. situation here.”

Bloody hell, this -is- your specialty, isn’t it?

He breathes in, regaining his composure, and moves quickly.

"Right. Apologies..."

He moves in quickly to try and diagnose the problem.

Tara has been observing, just awed by the proceedings. She understands none of it, but she used to be amazed by an acid and a base making salt water. She still is actually.

She starts examining the vitals on Price.

Tara will find Mr. Price's heart rate is normal, breathing is regular, and he shows no sign of injury. There is movement under his eyes indicating dreaming, but he doesn't move. He'll most likely rouse to consciousness soon.

Corrine's still shaking rather violently, but she's looking around at her surroundings at least. She's rather shaken, but manages to tumble out something that sounds like "water".

Tara makes sure he's restrained. There's been enough funny business today. She also trying to shake that voice of God moment from her head and to do her job.

She next goes to check Hotshot.

Trevor hates magic. He really, really hates magic. But Tara's fussing over him so it can't be all that bad. "I'm fine, really," he whines, waving her hands away. "I really think there should be a first date or two before we start playing nurse, but I can't say no to a more thorough examination if your heart's really set on it."

Trevor grins at her, expecting a slap but at the very least people will stop fussing over him. The pain medication's done enough that even if he was still injured, he wouldn't feel it anyway.

She smirks. "Take it up with my boss," she points to Dr. Mid-Nite. "And then my GL boyfriend. In that order. Still getting the fishbowl effect when you move and did that change anything?"

"That," being the magic stuff.

That's certainly one Trevor's never heard before, but he doesn't miss a beat. "Your boyfriend's a Green Lantern? Thanks, I think I've had my ass kicked enough times this week."

A smirk back. "Yeah, 'cept the fish have hangovers now. Got a mallet handy for this migraine? You could bludgeon me into unconsciousness. Never know, could be fun."

She's still smirking. "Better. I have super strength or narcotics. Your choice which I use. I'd perfer the later, but I did hear you have a rep."

"What, from those yahoos?" Trevor asks, indicating Caleb and Corrine. "Don't listen to a word of it. Scandalous lies."

His head's still spinning through his attempt to grin. "I think I'll take the narcotics, thanks. Less explaining to do to my bosses later."

"Just say you won a trip to the Netherlands for a weekend." she starts the IV drip for the pain killer. "This should take care of it in a few minutes. That, and the whole, 'don't move,' thing."

*Caleb shoots Trevor a quizzical look.* “Well, I’m one of them, and I’m certainly not going to write you up for missing work on account of this.”
