She's kidding of course, but there's a lot of admiration. That, and a need to keep the conversation going. "I noticed your eyes. My boyfriend can see though his GL ring and I had to experiment on myself in a last ditch thing to keep myself alive. Is that how you got to the JSA? Trying to keep them? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I'm curious."
The curiosity, he's familiar with. Most people he meets ask eventually.
"Two separate things, actually," he corrects, quietly, appreciating the fresh air. My eyes were altered in an unusual accident. I had already taken up the mantle of Dr. Mid-Nite, long after the accident, when I was asked to join the Society, which happened after I'd helped them in a conflict in Milwaukee that I happened to be able to respond to. Since I'd had a residency with the original Mid-Nite, and he was a Society stalwart, it felt natural to accept their invitation."
"So, you're a legacy case. Seems to be a lot of them." A pause. "I have to admit, I wonder why. I mean aren't these guys worried for thier kids or something?"
