Michael nods politely, but he's still mostly unsteady. His fever would have killed a lot of people, and his knuckles are swelling.
"We're looking at an enchantment that masquerades as, or is piggybacked on, a lethal retrovirus. It rewrites the subject's DNA strands, evidently to force a backward fall in evolution.
"I'm transmitting data into your suit. According to to research on the ground, once we lift the spell, we should be able to treat and contain this situation like a normal lethal and unstoppable virus."
Dr. Saunders begins reading the data as it flashes across the screen.
"But you don't know how to prepare for the virus post-enchantment because you don't know what will happen exactly when the spell lifts, correct?"
Teriffic nods.
"I think I do," says Saunders.

"Sorry," says Nancy. "Needed a moment to finish transferring data."
Saunders pushes a button on her wrist console, and a holographic display of a DNA sequence appears.
"This is a DNA sample we took about seven years ago from Kent Nelson, the original Dr. Fate. In the wake of the Dominator invasion of Earth, the aliens unleased a bomb that put every metahuman on Earth into a state of catatonia, killing several.
This is the point where we discovered the existence of the metagene, but what we couldn't understand was why Fate, ostensibly not a metahuman, was effected."
The image closes in, and a numerical representation of an RNA strand appears.
