*Gotham, outside a now destroyed warehouse*

*Black Lightning, still dizzy from being held captive and awaking in the middle of a fight, looks up at Dr. Fate as he gives his dire warning, and then looks to the collected heroes and circle members surrounding him, all weary and battered. Tannarak and the Psycho Pirate are gone, but there are problems left, not the least of which is what to do

*Fate descends among the heroes.*

Jefferson Pierce. Danette Reilly. It is good to see you both healed.

*He turns his attention toward Constantine.*

I have much to attend to, John Constantine, but it is as we feared. These villains were merely rats scurrying for territory in the wake of the coming evil, as were the other threats we've faced.

*It's hard to get anywhere near Fate right now -- he's been moving so fast for so long that he's radiating heat, scalding the air around him.*

"Sod it all. Couldn't be lucky enough t'be the big event has to be something nastier comin'." He needs a drink and to be out of here. Things to think about and bottles to empty.

"Guess I should get goin' then. Before fast boy over there comes an steals me fag again."

No. But this threat has ended, and we are pulling ahead of the coming storm.

He looks around at the destruction and injuries with a snort.

"Right. We won." He gives Fate a strange look. "No outracing a hurricane mate. See you around."

Sue is nestled under Ralph's arm and cuddling close. Her attention though is fully on Fate. She jerks a thumb towards Jordan. "You might want to brief this guy. He's had a long few months and," There a slight pause as she reaches out a hand to his shoulder. "He's a friend. Sneaky. Resourseful and hasn't seen our kind up close and personal."

*Jordan harummphs. He's taken a couple nasty hits in the collapse of the building, but is still standing.*

Ms. Dibny, I'm not sure I ever care to be on this side of the adventure again. I'll take my dry as dirt finance sheets, thank you very much.

*He smiles and chuckles at that.*

But still, I fear we still have some business to attend to. If the world's not ending right this second?

You're right, Jordan. We do. And a few hard decisions.

Sue can't help but smile a little, despite herself. "That's the problem Jordan. The world is ending according to Fate here. Hayden and Tannerak were right. Something's coming and we have to save a kid I think."

Jay checks the wounds of those around him, and begins using the speed force to rapidly heal the injured around him.

*Seeing Firebrand de-aged to 25 or so, and back wearing her old costume, is a sort of Golden-Age flash back for Jay. It's as though she stepped out of a WWII-era All Star Squadron meeting. But there's also a lot changed about her. It's a lot like Alan Scott -- she looks much younger than she is, but she has the eyes of someone who's lived more than 80 hard years. And while she was never a piker in the confidence levels before, she's now a positively commanding presence. There's a lot of anger penned up inside her, a lot of emotion. Where has she been for 60 years? What has she been doing?*

"Thank you, Jay," she says. "I knew you'd be the right one to turn to when things got dark."

"I'm glad to see that you're alright, Firebrand. I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being surprised by your... appearance, though."

What? Only the All Star Squadron boys get to come back young and pretty?

*She has a beautiful smile, but there's a lot of danger and sadness wrapped up in it, too, which she doesn't quite manage to joke away.*

If he is injured, would he say anything?

From a perch above, apart from the rest, the black gaze of the Bat follows the movement of those rescued, although he studies most lingeringly Ralph and Sue. Maybe he does care.

Maybe.

*For a second, it seems that Jordan catches sight of Batman and smiles, but the look -- if it happened at all -- seems to be gone instantly.*

The smile is not returned, but who would expect the Bat to smile? He does, however, nod once, just barely, but that's it.

His anger has not yet abated.

*As John Constantine disappears into the shadows, Fate returns his assemblage to those assembled.*

Some of you have injuries that must be seen to. I must return to the Justice Society headquarters immediately, but they have excellent medical facilities. Or I can transport some of you elsewhere?
