Rann Regrouping

It had been touch and go, but the people of Rann were safe - though understandably confused to find themselves suddenly amidst the Australian Outback. After making temporary arrangements with the Australian government to house the Rannian refugees, Jay and the Justice Society arranged a meeting of heroes - some in person, some by teleconference -

"You may not be the Fastest Man Alive anymore, old friend, but you are certainly the most patient. I imagine the speed of the internet, even at its fastest, is like an old school cartoon flipbook to you." Hawkman says wryly.

Jay smirks.

"More like a Tijuana Bible, with some of the things people put on here. No, I'm used to biding my time - being a chemist wasn't as exciting once I was fast enough to make the reactions seem slow."

It was just as easy for her to go to one place as it was another so if it was the Brownstone that was the hub of the meeting then ot eht enotsnworB she goes.

"Did anyone call for a mystic?"

"Thanks for coming in, Zatanna. Hector's still trying to sort out the after-effects of that Darkseid business, so it'll be good to have as much magic on our side as we can find."

"Glad I can help." Her smile turned a bit sheepish as she slid into a seat. "But I'm afraid I'm a bit out of the loop. I've ah...been away. Care to catch me up?"

"I've been off-world myself, so I've missed out on Darkseid's attempt to conquer Gotham. Our current problem has just as big a potential impact, though - you remember Hank Henshaw, I take it."

It didn't take long to get to the Brownstone from her place, as Tora felt the worry about Guy nipping at her heels. It kept coming back, no matter how much she shoved it down - he was a strong man, but he was also stubborn and sometimes reckless.

She peeks around the door into the room where Jay and the others were positioned, before entering completely.

"Hello, Flash, Zatanna, Hawkman..." There's a certain degree of formality to her greeting, like she still is a little unsure of her position amongst them.

Zee wasn't one to throw stones when it came to being uncertain where you belong so she gave Tora a smile and a wiggle of her fingers.

"Hey."

Jay nods as she comes in.

"Welcome, Ice. Zatanna, I'll save the full briefing once we have more of the group here, but the long and short of it is that Henshaw and some allies have conquered the planet Rann and seem to be intent on creating a new Warworld."

Green Lantern - not the one who usually resides at the Brownstone - arrives about that time - at the right time to hear Jay's comment.

"That's not all of it, unfortunately. The Corps is on high alert, and - I'm sorry to say this, Tora - but Guy's been reported missing, and the Oan database has him last reporting in near Rann."

After some more arrivals..

A few minutes later, Jay is ready to start the briefing.

"After the assault on the Watchtower, Adam Strange got me out of the place with a zeta beam - I ended up spending a few days on Rann, before it happened."

He taps a few keys on the computer, displaying the information they've been able to gather via long-range sensors.

"Hank Henshaw, Despero, and Malefic have conquered Rann with a small army of Chemo replicas, backed by a sizable force of Psions. Any one of those threats would be a significant danger, but together, they are one of the most formidable forces I have ever seen. Mr. Terrific, Hawkman, Cyclone, Hourman and I weren't able to do much more than stall them."

Hal speaks up, next.

"Green Lantern Corps intelligence suggests Guy was responding to the reports of the disturbance. Apparently, Henshaw solicited support from the galactic community at large for the takeover, using Superman's guise, claiming the Rannians had access to weapons of mass destruction. Rann has always had tense relations with its neighbors, so the word of 'Superman' was enough to get them to turn a blind eye."

"There may also be a few rogue Sinestro Corps members in the vicinity - and I can't imagine they wouldn't cooperate with this lot."

Jay winches visibly at the suggestion that there might be yellow lanterns in the mix of that already formidable force.

"I was able to evacuate Rann with their zeta-beam technology; when we left the planet, the Chemos were devastating its ecology. That's where we may ultimately need magic the most - trying to find a way to undo the damage."

Hal folds his arms across his chest.

"Lex Luthor was broken out of the Sciencells, and Zeta Beamed off of Oa. Just in case you thought this wasn't messy enough already."
