Big Game Hunting

Dr. Crane had been watching the events of Darkseid and Blackfire's rule of Gotham from the safety of the fortress that is Arkham Asylum, curiously unaffected by the power of anti-life. He wasn't alone in the institute however, as being one of the few to remain his faculties (scarce that they may be) he found himself all but in charge of the Asylum ( Read more... )

Gordon is in the shadows of his cell, and to give the man credit, he is not crouched, cradling himself and babbling. His eyes, however, are wide with fear, his hands clenched tightly in the pockets of his trench coat, his limbs trembling.

"I tried to protect them. Sarah and Barbara. I tried. I failed. I tried, I tried, and look what happened to them. Dear God, look what happened to them. My fault, my fault, my fault, my fault...."

His strong baritone is reduced to a whimpering whisper.

"Gordon Gordon Gordon Gordon Gordon Gordon GORDON!" The Scarecrow's voice penetrates the cell containing James Gordon, but it's hushed, almost whispering ( ... )

All that Gordon likely hears of the words from Scarecrow involve saving Barbara from the men roaming the halls, from the Joker and Quinn. His eyes are wide, his mustache quivers, but he walks forward as if each step were a struggle.

He has to fight these fears. He has to help his little girl. Even if it means taking a life.

"Excuse me, sir...?" It's not long after Gordon's departure from his cell that a small man also recently released catches up to him. He merely had to follow the sound of dragging feet.

"Excuse me... Sir? Do you know the way out of here?" The man is hunched over and looks away from the Commissioner's face.

Somewhere in all the chaos caused by Blackfire's incendiary speech, Harley Quinn had gotten separated from the Joker after they had gone into the thick of the confused anarchy that had become of Gotham's huddled masses. Unable to find any of her other allies in the midst of the havoc wreaking the dark city, Harley had decided to check out the one place she knew they all had in common -- good ol' Arkham Asylum. Of course, given the state of events, that place was no doubt the least sane place to be, but the jester-costumed woman had no better ideas for the time being. She might get lucky and find one of her friends there, or she at least might get some leads as to where they might be ( ... )

"Dr. Quinzel." The dry and humourless voice cuts across the Asylum like a very sharp knife through some rather warm butter. "I do hope you're not looking to take your old job back. I'm afraid the position has been filled for some time ( ... )

"Puh. Please," Harley answers dismissively with a little wave of one gloved hand. "These loonies are way beyond my help." Or her unique version of it, at least. She did anything but rehabilitate the Joker, after all. "'Sides, the pay I get now's way better than anything I got here ( ... )

Not all of the inmates are so witless as the brunette civilian. Samuel Strich, the poisoner of Bludhaven, cautiously creeps around the corridors of the asylum with a shiv in hand. He wipes the sweat from his feverish brow. The walls are closing in on him and he has to get out.

Seeing the multi-coloured figure of Harley he smiles. One of the seven. One to be slain. He creeps forward and from the shadows brings his blade down.

This is not the smartest thing she's ever done but Selina had been regretting that she hadn't been more involved in the Darkseid thing. Well, this is a part of the clean up of that. Plus, Eddie had someone who actually needed to be turned in here. Since Gordon was supposedly rounding people up here, seemed like a good place to bring Eddie's unconscious lump whoever the hell he is.

So, loaded with what possible loony gear she could find, mostly thigns that may or may not work, she's making her way into Arkham. The few times she has been here have not gone well at all.

"Well, this place is even less cheery than I remembered."

"It's not exactly my ideal vacation spot, either. But I don't know any other place to plant a nut like Woodrue."

Of course, it'd be hard to tell just who the Riddler was bringing in - the Floronic Man is coated in a layer of hardened polymer - one of the Joker's Nutty Putty variants - it'd probably be lethal, if Woodrue were still human.

Nygma is pushing the wrapped-up reprobate in a wheelbarrow, trying to keep pace.

The pair are greeted by an odd sight. The usual automatic doors leading into the main foyer of Arkham Asylum are sealed shut. Barbed wire can be seen to have been draped over the exterior and interior of the doors to prevent entry or indeed exit. Maybe they were a defence against the minions of Darkseid...

What's stranger is the short bald man on the inside of the foyer desperately grappling with a skinless woman, as they both try and get out of the main doors. The skinless woman is Jane Doe. The man is recognisable as a hot dog vendor from downtown Gotham City.

"Well, that's not normal."

Closing the distance to the doors in more of a rush, Selina starts to work on the doors. Her claws can probably handle some barbed wire, hopefully it is enough to get the door open. She's good at getting in places quickly and without notice, so she hopes this won't be too complicated.
