Grodd had slipped away from the gathering and was heading to rendezvous with his jet. He was positive no one saw him leave, but he knew it was only a matter of time before someone detected it. He would have to act quickly if he was to evacuate Gotham before anyone could catch up with him ( Read more... )

"Hold it." The Flash comes to a halt about 30ft behind Grodd, crackling with lightning.

"You know I can't just let you leave, Grodd. I know this is probably a stupid request, but if you come quietly back to Iron Heights we won't have to fight and you won't get even more hurt than you were back there. It's been a long few days. Come back and no doubt you'll break out in a month and we'll go over this territory again in February." The Flash puts his hands on his hips and waits for the gorilla to make a response. He's not optimistic.

"Flash," Grodd spat the word as he turned to face his enemy. "I knew it would come to this. I must admit, I feel a faint bit of nostalgia listening to you, old enemy." Grodd's eyes begin to glow with psionic energy. "However, your contact with the grave has addled your mind if you truly think I will kowtow to you of all people!

With a roar, Grodd mentally ripped up pavement from all around and sent it hurtling in as many conceivable directions as he could.

The Flash doesn't waste any more time. Rather than run in a circle around Grodd, potentially getting hit by paving slabs, he runs straight up to the bulk of the huge gorilla and delivers hundreds of superspeed-fuelled punches to Grodd's face.

An average human punch to the face would be laughable to Grodd, however the sheer number of hits and the rapid speed was enough to hurt him. It was a tactic Flash had used in the past, so Grodd was not entirely unprepared for it.

'Your bones ache, you are so tired.' Rather than outright hypnotisim, this was a mild, almost subconscious suggestion. He knew Flash was too strong-willed to be controlled utterly, but rather it was intended to delay his reaction time just enough to strike.

After planting the suggestion, Grodd strikes down low, intending on crippling the Flash's legs. He doesn't wait to see if the suggestion worked, he can't afford to.
