Picking up the pieces

Darkseid has been defeated and his henchmen were routed.
With Doctor Fate's intervention the Anti-Life effect was quickly vanishing from the minds of Gotham's citizens. Even so, Batman was right. The city had suffered greatly.

Tim took a moment. It was weird referring to Dick as Batman.
Don't think about it right now. he chided himself silently ( Read more... )

The boy was good, Bane had barely heard his approach. Bane inwardly flinched as the burn seemed to flare intermittently from painful to almost dull sporadically. Whatever those beams were, it was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. In fact, if he didn't know better, he would swear the burn was spreading. Still, he stoically kept silent, standing with arms crossed.

"Have you heard anything concerning Cicada? He saved my life earlier, I'd like to know if Kid Flash got him out safely." Bane doesn't turn around, but he's aware Tim is nearby.

Robin continues to scan the area around them and the sky above. Now and then updates from the Batplane's telemetry draws his attention and he enters a few commands into a holographic console emitting from the wireless system hidden in the forearm guard of his gauntlet.

Cicada. Another puzzle for the evening.

"Hersch volunteered to be taken in before the big fight. He didn't think he'd be able to resist the lure of draining Darkseid and what would happen to him afterward. I had Kid Flash take him to a correctional facility."

The holographic interface gets closed and Robin turns his full attention to Bane.

"You shouldn't move until we figure out how bad your injuries are. You're really lucky Darkseid wasn't at full strength you know. Those beams of his can annihilate matter."

"Good, I will have to repay my debt to him someday." Bane let out another inaudible groan as he clenched his teeth. "I can certainly believe it. He may very well have sheered the layers of my skin without cutting it. A..unique sensation." Bane remained fairly immobile. "What of outside communications, have they returned yet?"

"On my way, Robin."

She drops down off of one of the rooftops, giving a bit of a look at Bane as she closes with her teammate, even though one she doesn't know as well as she might like.

Bane sees the friends conversing and decides now is as good a time as any to leave.

"Gracias, senorita. Unless you object, Pajarito, I will take my leave." Bane slowly removes his mask to wipe some sweat from his brow. He never had any secret identity to speak of, so it didn't matter if he took his mask off. He had always been Bane.

He doesn't respond out loud, but Tim watches Bane leave.

He's certain they'll cross paths again. Certain.

Flamebird nods to Bane as he leaves and continues to bind up Robin's cut.

"I've been helping Cyborg and Changeling keep things running on the West Coast - you know how they can both get distracted with projects. This is the biggest action I've seen anywhere in awhile. The East Coast team is full of old pros, so I don't know how much leading they need when they're not in the field."

Tim nods appreciatively.
"I think I'm going to be really busy in Gotham for awhile, but I plan in checking in with the West Tower soon."

Tim pauses until Bane is well out of earshot.

"I've got allot of screwed up stuff that needs to be dealt with."
