At the corner of Hollywood and Vine, the ground begins to tremble on an early summer evening - the hardy native Californians ignore the tremor at first, accustomed to such things living this close to the San Andreas fault. The hissing gasses and wave of heat might be ignored as well - after all, this is where movies are made - but the follow-up is

LA is Bette Kane's home town.

Not that the people of LA would remember hat she was their lone defender for awhile. They're fickle and she was never the sort who gathered attention like that.

This isn't cool. No, demons invading at Hollywood and Vine is very much not cool at all. It is a good thing she was in town visiting family.

Raising a hand to her ear, she touches her comm piece, "Titans... or anyone listening in who might be available.... LA is gonna need you. Fast."

A huge cloud of smoke appears, and when it clears in its' place stands the NEW Spectre - Asmodel! "Earth creatures! Your time to be judged is at hand! The end of life as you know it is tonight - prepare to face judgment!" With that, the entity of the Spectre unleashes a bombardment of fire and devastation upon the people in L.A. There is no laughing, no posturing, just cold judgment without remorse!

Well, judgment deferred, in some cases - a red and yellow blur runs amongst the blasts of fire - plucking hapless citizens out of harm's way.

"Youaskedforfast?" comes the reply over the comm channel.

The name that comes to her first is not Bart but she's no less happy to see Bart. "Yes."

Flamebird is doing what she can to get people out of the way but this is far and away so much more than she can handle.

The building is clear but the streets are not any safer for the people Flamebird has escaorted out of the building. For a moment, she looks up into the sky and is stunned by what she sees happening. Shaking herself, she continues to try to usher people away from the chaos.

Once all of the people are at least moving, she starts to pull together a triage area for those who cannot leave due to injuries.

The combined efforts of the others help Zauriel make his next move, "Okay Asmodel... it's time to come out!"

He plunges his sword deeper in the wound than before and starts prying the wound as one does when they try to separate two objects by sticking something in a crack.

The Spectre shreiks in horrible pain and starts oozing out both light and dark energies and fire and more as he tries to fight the separation that is happening, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" He bellows...

Owlman sees Beetle doing what he is doing, loading up people to get them out of there fast! As people climb in he says, "Hold on!"

As they fly away, the people ask, "Aren't you that Crime Syndicate guy?"

Owlman rolls his eyes and slowly says, "No. I'm not him. I'm Owlman, the good guy! Now hang on!" He manouvers the Owlwing away safely...

Even Red Tornado is forced to shield his optic sensors as the Spectre begins to be torn asunder. He turns away, and spies a building affected by the fight about to topple over.

Without a word, he flies towards the building and spins around it, trying to keep the brickwork together by centrifugal force alone. It's hard work, but when you're the Red Tornado you save lives no matter how much effort you have to put into it.

Owlman drops the people off to safety, then heads right back into the city for dealing with more minions. He lands near the action, then heads out and into the middle of a fray of minions attacking people. "Foul things!" he seethes out between his teeth.

He lands and throws out several Owlrangs in the directions of the minions who are squealing with delight at the fear the people had. Now the squeals turn into growls as Owlman interferes. "Foolish mortal!" one says, "Now you will be erased!"

Owlman sneers and grits his teeth and braces for a brawl. He sees the Spectre happenings close by, "This is going to get ugly..."

Flamebird continues to work on those people who can't get out of the area on their own power. Luckily, or unluckily, there aren't too many people who need active triage. The power level at play here is not something thta people tend to walk away injured from.

A minion gets too close to the small group and ends up with an electrified taser bolo around the neck. "Back off, creepy!"

Owlman stands his ground, but it doesn't help when you're only human, "Brave mortal..." says a minion. It unleashes a volley of fire at Owlman and so do the others that he jumped into.

"AAAAGH!" The fire-resistant suit is holding, but it won't be long until it fails.

"Foul... creatures...!" He hurls smoke pellets and Owl shruikens in their direction...

They squeal as the objects hit their marks. The fire temporarily stops. He disappears into the smoke and lays low, "Crap!" he whispers to himself, "I could use some help..." Not far away he sees Flamebird. 'Maybe that flame chick can help,' he thinks to himself...

Flamebird goes back to splinting and bandaging the leg of a man who was unfortunate enough to have a piece of falling building land on it. The splint is insufficient, all things considered, but it will have to do as there are other people who need her.
