The world has begun to calm once more, the damage wrought by Luthor's manipulations beginning to heal. The Stranger stands on the lunar surface, looking down on the deceptively peaceful blue-green sphere below

A purple-robed figure strides amongst the laboratory staff - frozen like flies in amber as the Time Trapper walks between the moments.
He approaches the stasis chamber that houses Ol-Vir, AKA Miracleman, and pauses.
"The time has come to take you home, dear boy. There are things that need to be done, and I doubt that they will miss you here."
When time flows again, the lab technicians will find a pile of dust in Ol-Vir's place, their instruments 'adjusted' to record that Ol-Vir's body has disintegrated.
He reaches up without giving her a second glance, rubbing his temples. "There's...a lot to process here. Maybe a few minutes without you fucking harping around and I can do that, yeah?"
Patrick O'Brian is sitting alone in his apartment full of frivolous, stupid kitchy trinkets, smutty photography and old pin-up art and other worthless junk, staring at the only thing in his home worth a damn - a photograph of his son.
The son Batman helped him forge a connection with even when he didn't deserve the help. Who steered Luke off the path to crime when his own father was too weak to play a role in his life.
Who knew to gather up the crumbs of his body after 3000 years floating in the Atlantic Ocean to help him reform his body again and save him from insanity.
Who died in front of his eyes while he didn't do jack to help.
So he's left to wonder just why the hell he's alive and Batman isn't.
It's hard to be a member of the Justice League when you aren't sure there's actually any justice in this world.

"I'm so, so sorry." Such a silly thing to say, but what else was there?
