Savage's specific prisoner raises his head, giving the room another look around before stalking directly up to it.

"Master Jailer's work, if I'm correct? I'm almost flattered. You went through all of this just to contain me. Is there something that you don't want me to see?"

Terrific places his hands flat on the front surface. "Its almost as complex and high-caliber as the one you're going to end up in."

Savage smirks.

"There are three inevitabilities in life, contrary to popular belief. Death, taxes, and Vandal Savage's victory. Even if you are correct, I will outlive whatever prison you build to hold me."

He gestures to the cell.

"I spared no expense in devising the perfect trap for a man invisible to machines. And you won't have to stay here much longer - once I acquire the last piece of my puzzle, I will be happy to let you run home and tell your friends in the Justice Society."

"Not to sound typical, but what makes you think this can hold me any longer than I want to be?" His T-mask shimmers for a moment, due to either a reflection or something more...

"It won't work. Keep that in mind."

Savage chuckles, shaking his head.

"Trying to goad me, are you? You have the intellect to grasp what I am doing here, but modern society has trained you to see things in certain ways. You won't see the scope of my plan until you are meant to. For now, your replacement will keep the Justice Society from noticing the last critical piece."

"Michael," murmurs The Contessa, drawing closer, eyes on his, "you are one of the bright minds of the world. My estranged husband, Vandal Savage, the Batman...they are your peers, if one can consider true genius thus. I am brilliant, but I know my limitations. I am not your equal.

"I know that you have not received enough data to understand. So allow me to note that not only do I carry a device that can be used to track me all over the world but I also carry..."

Her hand raises.

"The keys to that boat."

Terrific's eyes go wide at the keys, and then to their owner. "What would your cover story be? Knocked you out and took the keys?"

Another step closer, close enough that he might smell the expensive Hermes orange blossom perfume she wears. "I think you may think more on what you need to do to get these from me, Michael. Quid pro quo, as my ancestors said."

"Then a favor owed, Contessa." His hand reaches up, to clasp over hers. "When Vandal goes down, you'll receive the amnesty needed. Is that fair?"

Savage will be livid when he is informed that the boat is leaving harbor - he can probably recover it through diplomatic channels later, but it's the principle of the thing.

For now, the growing certainty that Terrific's escape is inevitable forces him to make another phonecall.
