Her orders tonight are simple. Rather than take a certain part of Gotham as usual, she's to make almost a full-sweep. Things have been weird lately, more than normal, and he is worried.

Just a quick stop. See if they're okay and keep moving. She understands what he doesn't say. He worries. Things are unusual. Unpredictable. He has to be ( Read more... )

Catwoman makes her way to the edge of the building and poses. She's breathing hard, having pushed herself to cover as much territory as possible tonight. She wants to forget the trouble, she wants to banish Black Mask and his deadline from her thoughts for at least a few minutes.

She isn't having any luck.

The bullet with her name on it is something she can't possibly forget. Even for a few minutes.

Crouching on the edge of the alleyway, she looks down into the empty darkness, hands clenching into fists.

Her movement is stressed, overwrought. Perhaps she's been pushing herself too hard.

She looks tired, in all ways.

Cassandra stays where she is for now, here to observe and protect.

Pressing her lips together, her breathing slows down as she remains where she is. There is something about the city that feels comforting to her, except it is taht sort of comfort that doesn't fool you into thinking that it isn't dangerous. This city is always dangerous. There is something about this corner, though, this alleyway, that has always called to her.

Hm. Catwoman speaks with her body, more than most of them. But sometimes--a hard fact to learn, in her circumstances--words are necessary.

She moves forward silently, and stops on a jutting windowpane a few feet above where Catwoman kneels.

Bronze Tiger has vanished into the ether again, called up by his government contacts, so Dragon has been covering Ben's martial arts classes all week. Now that the teenagers and kids have gone, he takes a moment to re-center himself, going through the slow, simple motions of a kata in the dark.

She sees her teacher through the window, practicing his moves. She watches the day's stresses and tensions flowing through and out, sees how his body works out knots and relaxes itself.

She is due for another lesson herself, but not tonight. Too much to do.

Dragon pauses in his routine, glancing towards the window. It's unclear if he sees her or not, but he's noticed something.

She's gone from the window by the time he looks that way, but she has scarcely left. Instead, the front door opens.

It's very un-batlike, but she does not wish to put him on edge.

"Oh, Alice?" Dr. Crane is not averse to wandering around Gotham City at night. What does one have to fear about the dark, after all? "Where are you, you silly little girl? You have much paperwork that needs completing."

Crane sighs. His "secretary" Alice Logan ran off during the day, and he's been hunting her down ever since. What triggered this episode? Flashbacks to her encounter with Hush? LSD-style regressions from her exposure to fear toxin? Realisation of who she's working with? "I know you're somewhere near here, Alice. One of the doormen at that horrible little club saw you running by..."

He's not actually concerned, and he knows he's talking to himself, but she is a decent secretary, if a little clingy. And she's apparently headed off down this alleyway. "Don't make me wear my mask."

A bat-shaped shadow, and Cassandra is in front of Crane. She's heard that he's pretending to be legit these days, but trust is earned, not given.

He's moving like a predator, or rather, someone who fancies himself a boogeyman. And whatever his words may say, his body isn't lying.

"Turn around, Crane. Go home."

Crane halts, puts his hands in his pockets, and then smiles. "Well, well. There's a blank face I've not seen in quite a while. Where have you been, Little Miss Bat?"

Dr. Crane's smile widens, as he rocks on his feet. "I think you'll find I'm just on a constitutional. I've committed no crime, so I would ask that you don't obstruct my path."

"Vigilante, remember?"

It may be hypocritical, but she doesn't work within the law anymore than he does.

"Who's Alice?"
