The retrofit satellite formerly belonging to the Justice League has now become the temporary headquarters for the Legion of Super-Heroes - greatly diminished though they be. Most of the interior of the satellite is empty, the activity of its three inhabitants confined only to certain sections. Particularly, the laboratories ( Read more... )

"You'll be making every trip," comes the response, as Brainiac 5 busies himself with calibrations and doesn't bother looking at Lyle. "The probe will need to be undetected in each reality it explores."

Lyle rolls his eyes, tossing one of the datapads in front of Brainy.

"Each reality? We're only interested in one, and if your equipment in Titans Tower was built right, then I think we have a pretty good idea how to get there. The math checks out, at least. Five credits says we hit it on the first try."

"You're only interested in one reality," he corrects, but future projects aren't his focus right now. "And I'll leave the pointless wagering to Triad. Are you about ready?"

"Hey!" Purple objected to Brainy's comment, while Neutral smirked to herself. Orange stood slightly off to the side, a mixed expression of distress and worry paining her face.

The time-bubble shimmers into view once again, precisely position on the platform from which it launched - but something's wrong. The door of the sphere appears damaged, and it isn't fully closed.

One of the bubble's alarm systems can be heard, coming from the gap in the door.

"Full lockdown," Dox says immediately, attempting to contain whatever's in that sphere before it spreads. Or gets loose. Taking no chances with this. Not going to risk another plague.

The laboratory's forcefields flicker into life - as the sphere's panel opens slowly, revealing the shadowed figure of Lyle Norg - but he's not moving like he should.

The sensors barely have time to give their report : no contagions detected, but there is a second humanoid lifeform in the sphere.

Lyle's unconscious body drops roughly to the floor of the lab, as there's sudden movement in the shadows behind him.

An orange and black blur leaps from the sphere, his foot extended in a fearsome kick directed at the Coluan.

Lyle found the Legion, alright. And he brought back a stowaway.

Lyle groggily lifts his head from the deck plating, blinking as he takes in the situation - the half-wrecked lab, for instance. The last thing he remembers is..

"Val! Grife, Val attacked me.. I hit the recall button.."

He's struggling to his feet now.

Too late. He couldn't get it working, and now Val's gone somewhere half out of his mind. Again.

"What exactly did you see?"

When Brainy says 'exactly,' he's not being figurative.

"Bad news, I'm afraid, mixed with the good."

He shakes his head to clear it, and leans heavily against the time sphere.

"The whole Legion's there, just as expected - but so is Mordru. He's got some other prisoners there that I don't recognize, but it looks like the Legion's actually working for him. Based on what I saw, I'd say mind control."

Lyle looks around.

"Val hitched a ride, didn't he? He perceived the time sphere through my invisibility, and attacked.. where is he?"

"Um," Orange pipes up, lifting herself off the ground and bracing her weight against the console behind her. "I think, I mean...I'm pretty sure I sent him ..." she can't quite finish the sentence, for shame and fear. In a non-verbal answer her eyes wander down, and in the direction of Earth.

The Rock of Eternity shakes with Mordru's rage.

"It is as I foresaw. The Legionnaires who remain free have interfered with us - and one of our agents has been set loose."

"We must at least attempt to minimize the fallout. The escapee must be captured or killed, so that he cannot reveal any of what he may have observed here. The magic binding his thoughts will not hold forever, once he is away from this place.."

The elder Mordru nods.

"Then I shall activate the sleeper agent. The future grows murky - I know not if he will succeed, but - it is why he was placed, after all."
