The coup is in full swing. The palace guards, under the command of Lord Kostan, now chase the elusive Regent and his already injured Amazon companion through the labyrinthine palace. Fortunately, the Regent seems to know the palace better...

...And unbeknowst to all involved, help for the beleaguered pair is on the way.

"Kostan -" There is no honorific used. They are beyond him and they know it. "You 'lost' the pair?"

"They haven't left. This place is surrounded, and Garth won't be able to teleport his way out."

He grips his sword. Damn it. Garth needs to be jailed, taken to prison for the good of Atlantis. Exile worked on King Arthur, but that's not likely to work here.

In a rare display of humility, he takes a moment to bow to the elderly couple. "I thank you for your intervention. Atlantis would be lost without your aid."

He listens to the waters around him. Dolphin told him that there were hidden places here.

"Check the walls," he orders his men. "There is likely some secret passage within."

As the soldiers continue to rail against Tempest and Raven's shields, three Atlanteans in robes hold back, chanting.

The shield begins to waver as they begin to cause interference with the mystic abilities of the Titans.

A red and gold streak comes out of nowhere and solidifies into Jesse Quick, directly behind the three Atlanteans.

"You people are nothing if not dedicated. But I've got to put a stop to this." She reaches out and grabs two of them by the back of their necks and brings them together in one sharp motion.

Nightwing, using the momentum from moving at Jesse's velocity, grabs the thirds head and flips over him, coming straight down with the intent of driving the third's jaw straight down onto his shoulder.

Jesse lets the two limp forms drop from her hands, and turns just in time to see the third crumple under Nightwing's assault.

"Hopefully that'll clear up some of the magic interference."

Kostan catches up to his soldiers and joins the fray. The closest is Satanna, so he will strike her. She doesn't seem to be that formidible an opponent, so disabling her shouldn't be an issue.

A moment later Jesse appears next to him, attempting to block any blows aimed at Santana.

"You're going to have to deal with me instead, sir."

Jesse will be shocked to see Santana go OVER her and land on Kostan's shoulders. She wraps her legs around Kostan's shoulders and fires several rapid punches towards his face, attempting to force him to fall backwards. "S'OK, Jesse, I got Don Hall ridin' shotgun, and I want a piece of this chump wannabe."

More guards bust into the room, time to focus their actions.

"Do we need to get Dolphin? Is she being -" She uses her lasso to throw a group of guards into another. "Mind controlled or otherwise abused here?"

She hopes the answer for her friend's sake is "yes," but she has a sinking feeling that's not the answer.

They felt that and they know it was the witch and the Regent because they have felt their powers before. Ripples of power still move through the palace and shift parts of reality.

Kostan They summon. Come to us.

Badly wounded, and barely able to walk, much less hold his sword, Kostan limps to the Elder Gods and does not kneel at their feet so much as collapse.

"It is done. They cannot return."

Oceanus raises an eyebrow at his stance. "That is one good thing. The children -" They never will call them "Titans," "Have disrupted us. We wished them alive."

"And for our offerings of sacred joy to spread through more of the land." Tethys adds. "The portals are now destroyed."

The combination of shock and blood loss almost makes him faint as he puts it together.

Sacred Joy...

"But those drugs...they were from the surface. There was paperwork - proof! Garth was looking the other way while..."

His voice trails off. Kostan realizes with horror that he jumped to conclusions, seeing only what he wanted to see.

He's been had and he knows it.
