Yes, it's very much a family, and it's a family that Kara Zor-L had missed dearly while she'd been off dimension hopping last year.

Hell, the dimension hopping at caused Kara to miss the last Thanksgiving they'd had.

This year, she was here early to ensure that that wouldn't happen.

She was dressed in civilian clothes for once - which wasn't easy, considering she'd had to go out and buy an outfit for herself, since her closet was filled with replicas of her Power Girl suit.

Kara follows her heightened sense of smell to the kitchen and eases herself onto a counter, watching Joan cook.

Kara would offer to help, really, she would, but Kara's been known to mess up even prepackaged macaroni and cheese.

"I'm watching you, Kara," Ma warns, mashing the potatoes. "Don't think I don't know that you're here to steal some brownies before dinner."

"Hi, I'm Bianca Reyes, Jaime--" Wait. "The Scarab's mom."

Right. Yes.

"I brought some lime soup and chile cornbread. Do you need any help?"

Hal still has the baby, but to avoid explaining the same story multiple times, it has a green shirt on reading, "Not mine; just babysitting."

He smirks as he follows Jami in.

"Glad you took up the offer, Jami. No one can cook like Mrs. Garrick, and Ha Hunkle is amazing too."

Sue is there with cases of cider and her own child in a sling. "Oh, Hal's a daddy...of a kind...I think the type startwith an 'm,' and ends with an 'ack.'" She winks at her old friend over Jamie's shoulder.

Hal grins at Sue as he hands the baby over to Jaime. "And to think you chose a 'four' over me." He winks, flirting harmlessly.

Virgil managed to get an invite from Hal as well, and showed up wth his father and sister.

"I don't know about this Virgil."

Virg raises his eyebrow. "Would you rather be eating Sharon's cooking?"

"Virgil!" yells Sharon.

"Good point."

"Daddy!"

Sand wasn't sure if anyone else from the Outsiders would be coming. ESPECIALLY after Cuba.

But he was JSA first, and he'd be damned if he missed out on Ma's cooking.

He walks in, getting the lay of things.

He's met by a grinning Max Lord.

"Hi there, Sand."

Sand takes one look at him. It's almost as if he can smell the fish oil. "Hi...and you are..."

"Maxwell Lord. Former chairman of the JLA. You're with the Outsiders these days."

Jesse zips up, and then pauses on the doorstep, straightening out her jacket and carefully pulling out a bottle of wine from an inside pocket.

thank goodness that made it without breaking... nothing worse than showing up smelling like wine...

She raises her hand to knock, and then stops. Hopefully things will be OK, and it won't be awkward. Been a long time since she's spent any time around this group of people, and since she's wanting to get back more into the hero business... well, no better time than the present, right? She knocks quickly on the door.

Jay answers the door... and immediately wraps her in a warm embrace.

"Jesse! It's good to see you!"

She returns the hug, and smiles gratefully.

"Jay. it's been far too long."

She leans back out, and holds out the bottle of wine. "I brought this.. . it goes well with turkey." She hands it over, and follows Jay back in the house. "I hope I'm not too late."

Jay takes the bottle and leads her in. "Never, Jesse. And you never need to knock to come into the Brownstone. You're always a member."
