Gateway City. Having left the JSA with the easier to deal with young heroes, Firebrand and Jade have traveled to deal with the hard one.
They stand on the roof of a building, watching the newest claimant to the title Mr. Terrific battle at an Intergang drug laboratory, his mounted armaments scattering the mobsters.
"That all you got!" shouts Terrific, firing a force beam into the wall of the building and setting it on fire. "C'mon! You're supposed to be the big, bad mob bosses! You can let one guy like me take you down?"
One of the mobsters gets close enough to take a shot.
"We're gonna kill you, Terrific. And we're gonna find your family, and kill them. Everything you ever loved. They're dead."
He fires the shot, but Terrific's not there anymore. Surprisingly nimble despite his bulky armaments, Terrific appears again behind the mobster, his elbow landing hard on the mobster's shoulders.
"Good thing I don't have a family," he says, turning toward the remaining mobsters, who are becoming quickly demoralized. "Nothing I love. Nothing for you to target. There's just you and me, boys."
In the all-encompassing shadows above, Firebrand crinkles her nose at that. She says nothing, but it's obvious from the look on her face that Terrific's statement isn't entirely true.
And if he accepts their offer, it will be even less so.
She debates flying down to help him, but holds off for a few moments. Firebrand has more experience in this department, so she'll let her lead the way.
