Waiting.

Old habits die hard.

Amelia can't follow the radio broadcasts too well. People talk too fast these days, and her ability to follow lines of thought has waned. There's absolutely nothing about the Outsiders thus far, and her brother's cell keeps going to voicemail when she can get the prats at front desk to give her the damn phone.

She changes the dial away from music. She's pacing her room and listening, trying to get it all. It's hard not getting tripped up for entire sentences when she thinks she missed a word. It's hard not to linger.

After a while she beats the walls. She slumps. She cries. How could she be stuck in here when Caleb's out there? Without her? And she doesn't even know where!

DAMN THEM!

She's going to burst apart waiting. She's going to claw at the walls until her fingers bleed. No amount of throwing things is going to change anything. She's caged, pulling at her hair, pacing along the walls. In an hour or so she's exhausted and throws herself on the bed.

Lie there. Helpless. Nothin's gonna change.
