Waverider is breathless when he returns. He'd been warned not to exert himself, that the wounds he'd taken at the battle of Vanishing Point where immense, that he was lucky to be alive ...

None of it matters. He appears in the JSA infirmry in a golden blur.

"Vanishing Point is gone," he says sullenly. "I can't access it."

Lady Quark, awakened after several days of intensive care, only glowers. She was dragged into this business unwillingly. Still ...

"So ... does this mean Rip Hunter and his Forgotten Heroes are gone?"

"I do not know," he says, his face a storm cloud. "I'd think that, if Rip were alive, I'd know. We fought side by side in the Linear Men for so long. ..."

"Yet you knew nothing of this Forgotten Heroes gambit?"

She sinks back into her pillow, exhausted.

"I don not know, Ryder. On the one hand, he saved us. Saved everything. On the other ..."

She hesitates, considering her words.

"I feel used."

"That's not entirely fair, Tashana," says Pariah, sitting by her side. "Degaton would have killed you. Would have killed all of us."
