Cassie approaches Conner a little shyly and grins up at him. They're surrounded by a gaggle of guys and girls, and she notes a few guys appreciatively checking out Cassie in her red Wonder Girl costume. She gives them a saucy grin before looking at Kon as if to ask him how they were going to play this meeting.
She grins and scoops him up in her arms. "This is a change," she says, obviously amused at having to carry her boyfriend somewhere else. She lifts up into the air and winks at the young male who had been trying to ask her out. "Just tell me where you want us to go, Kon."
Ok. Awk-ward. He flung his arms around her neck. The crowd of football bullies laughed among themselves, but he heard them, going a little red and muttering, "Let's just get out of here. Go get that soda or something."
"I didn't just completely slaughter your lack of social stature here, did I?" Cassie asks, also hearing the crowd laughing. She grins. Donna's probably loving this little display.
She kisses his cheek softly. "Like you need to. You're Superboy. This is just...actually...why did you take on a secret identity anyway? Did Superman ask you to?"
"I guess he figured I'd connect better to the people we're supposed to be saving if I knew what it was like to be one," he said. "If it's doing anything, it's making me resent the hell out of the ones who pick on people like Connor Kent's supposed to be. The other ones, I already liked them, you know?"
Cassie nods as she lands. They're in downtown Smallville. Well, at least what passes for downtown Smallville.
She turns to Conner.
"I understand that. And I can see where he would want that. I mean, I understand the people I save because I was one of them for so long. Before...everything happened." She shrugs. "Where's the best place to chill?"
"There's two places," he said, nodding toward the drugstore. "They've got a lunch counter and stuff in there, and it's usually pretty good. Or, you know, with school being out and all, there's the football field."
"I could actually use a burger. Just, do yourself a favor, and don't order the tuna melt. I made that mistake one morning. I think they don't really do well with grilled onions here."
He led the way, pushing the door open for her, and stepping aside to let her enter first. "After you, Wonder Girl," he said, grinning.
Cassie wrinkles her nose. "Boy of steel, stomach of kleenex?" she asks playfully as she steps through the entrance way, grinning at him. She stops and takes a look around her. The place is nice. Quaint. Terribly stuck in 1985.
"I think I'll just stick with a chicken sandwich, thanks," she adds as they approach the counter, smiling at the semi-cute teenage girl who was on the verge of forming her first truly heinous pimple. She noted the look of shock that the girl gave Cassie and Kon as Cassie gave the girl their order and handed her a twenty.
"So, what are the chances that this is going to make the local newspaper?"

And yet...
We're out of everyone's ear-and-eyeshot. She looks around then. Except for the residents of Smallville.
"Do you really want to deal with the footballers again?" she asks. "We just escaped them," she adds, grabbing his arm. "Lunch counter it is, farmboy."
