So…this is uncomfortable.Cassandra Sandsmark looks to her right and then looks to her left. On her left, and slightly under her, is Conner Kent - also known as Kon-El, also known as Superboy. He’s the love of her life. Next to him is his Uncle Jonathan, a man who is watching over Kon for Superman. On Cassie’s right is her mother, giving Cassie ( Read more... )

"Pa or Johnathan will do just fine, young lady." Despite the horde of teens in the back of and in the cab of his truck, Johnathan Kent's eyes and focus are clearly on the road and he's a very cautious driver.

Helena is therefore free to keep looking at those teenage hands and make sure they don't wander anywhere. Superstrong or no - she is the mother, and she will smack them if they are not where they are supposed to be.

Cassie would call him "Pa", really, she would, but that seems a little too...familiar...for just now. So...Jonathan.

Unless that's a sign of disrespect?

Argh, the problems with being a California girl. You don't know what's right and wrong in the culture of smalltown folk.

But they're good people. They have to be, from what Kon tells me. So I don't think they'll mind. After all, actions do speak louder than words.

"This is such a beautiful area."

She means that too. It's markedly different from California...but there's a certain charming beauty to the area that she hasn't seen before. It's quaint.

"You should, um," he squirmed, not sure where to put his hands, other than holding them up as though Mrs. Sandsmark were robbing him. Putting them down anywhere below the waist would just seem like he was inviting trouble, after all.

Kon cleared his throat, realizing he'd trailed off. "There's a little pond. It's nice. Guys take their girls up there for picnics sometimes. I mean, if you'd want to do something like that sometime."

Bette is sitting in the back of the truck, letting her hair be blown about by the wind. Sun. Wind. Warmth. It is a good day out here. Leaning back against the edge, she allows herself to drowse some.

"Plenty of that here," he notes. "Though I admit, not much else for kids to do." It's been a sad point for him and Ma raising Connor. He;s not as good as Clark was at finding things to do and they know Connor wants more - is used to more.
