After Atlantis

With Fate's agreeing to escape the Witch Queen, rather than to fight, the heroes dive through the portal, following the object of their quest ... an amulet that could balance the forces of chaos within the sorceror

Jay offers a hand. "As long as you're on our side, Arion, we're pleased to accept your aid."

Fate pushes himself up from the ground, where he landed face-down after rushing them through the portal.

"I ... I know you. Of Old.

"Yes," says Rose, primly dusting herself off from her hard landing. "The Wizard Arion of Atlantis. But you've been gone for thousands of years."

"Longer," says Arion, nodding. "By your time, my Atlantis has sunk from mankind's view, claimed by the magicks at its heart. Likewise, in your time, I am a remnant of what I once was, a whisper in the waves to Atlantis' champions."

He holds the amulet up to eye level, and examines it.

"Which is why it was neccesary to pull you here.

Arion regards the time-lost heroes, and it's clear to him that there will be a confrontation if he moves to attack the girl in anyway. But that's not his intention. Indeed, he's not even certain Gemma Marsters indeed becomes The Witch Queen. There are other ... candidates.

"My associates lost track of Gemma Marsters some years in your future. No record of where she went. But mages are notoriously hard to track."

He waves away the conversation, unwilling to pursue it.

"But that's not why I brought you here. Indeed, it's my hope to make this all moot. If we cannot prevent The Witch Queen from rising, we must prevent her from infecting Fate in the first place. It is not enough to stop it at your time period. The virus spreads itself across timelines, causing divergent realities ... all of which turn Fate from among the world's greatest defenders, into one of its greatest threats."

"But if that's the whole Hawk thing and the Chaos magic he's already showin' symptoms. How do we reverse it?"

"Yeah, I get the sense this isn't exactly something that can be wished away."

"It isn't," says Arion, seriously. "To stop The Witch Queen's plans, you must follow the virus of her corruption back to the source, prevent her from infecting the Champion of Nabu

"It is not so far, Champion of Nabu," says Arion, raising his arms and creating a pattern of light that pulses in convergent triangles.

"You need only step a little forward. Back to the beginning."

And with that, the heroes are shunted ... elsewhere.
