After the pre-arranged phone call kicking off the next phase in the plan, Conner hurried outside, stepping into his tennis shoes in mid-leap from the porch (thank you, tactile-telekinesis).
There's a glint in his eyes. "Only once. You have told me..." He counts. "About twice an hour on average for the last week." Pa is getting his tools together, however.
Conner let out a good-naturedly frustrated groan, scrubbing at his scalp with his fingertips. "I'm sorry, Uncle Jon. I mean, you know, if I'm babbling. I'm just, well...kind of psyched about this, is all. Are we...I should be in the truck now, shouldn't I?"
The nearest S-Mart Hardware is on this route about 40 miles from the Kent home. They're supposed to meet everyone at the 30 mile mark. They pass it. Then they pass the turn off to actually get to S-Mart. Then another 5 miles before...
Bette, in her cutoffs, has been laying on the roof. Might as well get some sun while she's out here, huh? She's looking very California trying not to be California in her shorts and sunglasses. As they pull up, she sits up some, glancing over her sunglasses before dropping off of the roof.

An older brunette gets out of the car and is the first to approach the older man and teenage superhero.
"You must be Connor and Jonathan. Hi, I'm Helena." She sticks out a hand. "Cassie's mom."
