That 'Clayface' character seems to have retreated, leaving Creote and the Huntress to find Savant themselves. And Creote is certainly wasting no time. Running through the halls, kicking down doors, he's determined to find the man somewhere here ( Read more... )

Savant tries to remain alert; somehow, things seem easier if he's not taken by surprise, if he has time to compose himself. It's been more difficult each time he's tried to rouse himself lately. Lately, he had a nasty habit of coming to in the middle of whatever the golem does to get his attention. Perhaps he should not be bothering...

There is commotion outside. Something out of place. He thinks it's out of place...almost sure of it.

The door is flung open, and Creote is tempted to immediately run to Savant's side.

But he has to play it safe. Aiming the gun at a water-pipe above Savant's head, Creote speaks:

"What day is it?"

Savant blinks at the question, not comprehending the purpose for a moment. Then he giggles. "Wrong question," he croaks.

You know that old adage, "hurts me more than it hurts you?"

Creote tests it by punching Savant in the gut. Hopefully to focus the man's head.

Feeling no guilt should it, of course, prove to be another doppelganger.
