The first sound to interrupt the reverie is the squeak of wheels. Eyes flicking about the room, Ralph asks the obvious first.

"Where are we?"

"Stranger," he says simply, not even looking up from June. "Figured you'd show eventually."

He looks haggard -- he obviously hasn't shaved or showered in days, and he reeks of whiskey.

"Palmer blew it, didn't he?"

The question is spoken as a nicety, no doubt - as comfort for Sabastian and information for the Dibnys.
