Or so it would seem.

Katar's only been gone for half an hour when the door opens again, and he returns.

With two bags full of food that they wouldn't let him leave without.

hawkman katar hol, hawkwoman

Shayera's been waiting for word on the apparent crisis, although she's not really sure what use she'll be if it comes right down to it. As well as being as tired and sore and shaken up as everyone else, her hands are heavily bandaged. Essentially useless. And she needs a new mace.

She's sitting on the couch when he gets back. She looks up, a little startled to see him back so soon.

"What's going on up there?"

"Well, it's an applicable term, is it not?"

He's right - there is more to the Light story. She's been avoiding any real discussion of it, but now that it's over... she'll probably tell him the whole story eventually.

Really.

"I suppose it is. Although I have not felt like a boy for quite some time."

Here are some sweet potatoes for her.

"Now you see what my problem with being called Hawkgirl was."

She licks her lips a little. Quirking an eyebrow at him. Just because she can't use her hands doesn't mean she can't flirt.

An upquirk of his lips. Yes, he saw that, but that's his only response. It usually works in getting her to flirt even more.

"Manfriend," he says, as he brings a spoonful of cranberry sauce. "Womanfriend. Are these somehow unsavory terms?"

"No," she says. "But you have to admit, they don't... roll off the tongue quite as well."

He knows her well. She leans in for the spoon, holding his gaze.

He slowly pulls the spoon from her lips.

"Hawkgirl rolls off the tongue better than Hawkwoman, you know."

His own eyebrow arches. Or perhaps waggles.

"Mm hmm. At least I don't share the name with someone else. How many times a day do you get asked which Hawkman you are, anyway?"

She's close enough for her nose to brush against his. She makes no move to actually kiss him, though. Teasing.

"But I still enjoy getting to respond by saying 'The Hawkman with his boot in your ass right now.'"

Then, there's a biscuit shoved up between their lips.

She loves it when he talks like that.

When the biscuit's gone, she nibbles at his fingers, lightly. What was that saying about biting the hand that feeds one? Or maybe you're NOT supposed to do that... oh, well.

He knows she loves that.

"The Hawkman who just knocked your teeth out."

One finger pokes in and traces along her tongue.

Her lips close gently around his finger, and she pulls back slowly, as if tasting.

This is exactly what she needed after the last week.

She says nothing, for now. Let him continue.

"The Hawkman who just broke your jaw."

He loves it when she's like this.

He traces around those lips.

Those lips come up to kiss his.

"Have I mentioned today that I love you?"

katavatar November 29 2006, 07:09:23 UTC
"Now that you mention it... no."

A finger strokes the hair away from her eyes.
