Harvey Dent was in the precinct where Rupert Thorne is being processed, after recovering enough from his gunshot wounds to face the processing. Closely monitoring the fat slug, and of course, not casing the security detail at all...

But the word of the prison riot spread like wildfire through the building, and he was not about to stand by and do nothing. Dr. Thompkins had already sent him home from the clinic to get rest, but he couldn't sleep. Too awake.

Spending that much time with dying children you're powerless to help - it fires up a nasty need for vengeance.

So his car is racing toward Blackgate, and he's packing heat.

You've missed that adrenaline, haven't ya?
Shut up.

There are police blockading the way to the prison. They're moving fast tonight but they're trying to cut things off before they get too bad.

They're already too late to stop the riot from spreading outside the pridon walls. They are hoping to keep it contained to the island.

The chances are slim.

The blockade works for most people. But not for the man formerly known as Two-Face. He's broken enough people out of here to know how to circumvent attention.

He knows exactly where some heavy traffic is going to be coming out.

The drainage pipes, big enough to walk through. The prisoners just looking to escape without a fight will be coming this way.

His car is parked off the beaten path. The gloves go on. The hat and coat are left in the back seat, and that tie's a liability in what's about to go down.

He's out, under cover of darkness.

He knows how to brawl, and Sonia's taught him a lot about how actual combat techniques work.

They're about to be put to the test.

Time to beat some bastards down.

He's right. There are drainage pipes big enough to walk through. You'd think that someone would have thought to at least put grates on these or something.

Tonight, though, there is a more dangerous flow leaving via these tubes than the effluviant that normally escapes here. Right now, there are just low level thugs. Two of them, looking tog et out of here before anyone notices - before any of the big fish try to make it out this way.

That always brings attention.

John Stewart bee-lined it to Blackgate as soon as he got the news, expecting backup soon enough. Time to see what he can handle himself. If Batman's gonna bitch at him for messing with his city, he'll have to do it later...

As John comes closer to Blackgate, his ring lets him know that there is something wrong. Something more than the obvious.

Ambient radiation higher than optimal safety and health parameters allow without shielding.

That widens his eyes.

"Some kind of nuclear blast started this?" he asks of his ring, immediately trying to contain that ambient radiation before it kills anybody...

The ring quickly tracks the source of the leak. It's mobile. And heading straight for Arkham Asylum

Whatever he had planned, whatever he had wanted, whatever he expected is shoved to one side when the news of the riot reaches the Watchtower. Nightwing has the Titans to lead, but Selina is, like the Batman himself, a Gothamite and a fiercely protective one at that. He'll need her beside him to help clean up the mess. Truthfully, he wants her beside him.

He doesn't yet know that Huntress is wounded on the Watchtower and Robin likely with the Titans as well. No matter. His city needs him, and the Batman would never allow anything, not even a recently broken back, to get in his way.

He's going in.

Catwoman is there with him.

She's not at all sure about this whole associating in costume thing. Yet another something that will have to be worked out down the line. People know who she is with and without the mask. It is a matter of public record. Seeing them together... Well. It won't take a genius.

Right now, though, there are more important things.

People know who she is with and without the mask...but she's scarcely the only costumed female with whom he associates.

Besides, he's mostly myth, isn't he?

Hand to his ear, Batman mutters across the Bat channel, "O, make sure everyone know what's going on down here. We'll need all hands on deck." Then, pivoting toward Selina, he offers a small comm device, stating briskly, "Round up escapess, do it quickly, stay in touch. I'll find you. Need a quick recon."

As he fires a line high to depart, however, he tells Catwoman, "Be careful. More going on than just a riot."

The whip snakes out, making that leathery sound for a moment against the ground, before she snaps it out to grab a way over. The comm is taken and stashed quickly.

With a smile and a wink, she comments, "Of course there is," before she lets herself fall off the ledge into the darkness and over toward the island.

Note to self: Speed healer or not, Flash touches her again, and he loses his hand at the wrist.

Huntress is heading into the fray: a dark spectre on two wheels. She feels the need to do some damage.

He'd managed to be out of the way until now - to slip away unnoticed.

Which isn't easy given his usual tendancy to be a little more dramatic.

Huntress will, as she roars out toward the island, notice .... a pirate... trying to escape notice as he makes his way off the island.

He's no Johnny Depp, either.

She'll be standing on the shore when he gets there. With a boot for his face.

To be locked away on that island when pirates are making a come back. It has been frustrating for him. The boot collides with his face but he grabs it and twists as he falls back from the impact.

Down on the other side of the island, a stolen gun's bullets narrowly miss a hero's head as he dives for cover.

Hey, guys? I'm thinking I'm gonna drum up some crowd-control here. That gonna screw with anybody's plans?

All of a sudden, there is more than bullets being directed at him. There is an arc of lightning that hits the cover he's hiding behind.

"Come out and play!"

Okay, hell with this -

He concentrates.

An instant later, the skies darken. Two seconds later and there's gale-force hurricane winds. Two more and there's the rain you'd expect, and now the sea surrounding the island is fierce and unnavigable.

It might make things a little trickier for the League up above, but it's gonna make things ten times harder for everybody down on the ground - and he's used to fighting in this.

"Woah!"

Whoe ever was throwing lightning around has been blown back and away from him - for the moment.

There is the added advantage of some of the guys trying to get into the water are driven back to shore, trying to think of a new way yo get off the island.
