I know what you mean. A lot of reviewers are really great, but every once in awhile you get that one who you just want to strangle. (Hopefully I haven't been that reviewer for anyone. :|)
Lol. That was one of my first thoughts.... "Dear Lord, I hope I haven't ever made someone else feel this way!" And I know that I've definately messaged authors of stories that I love that hadn't updated in a while, but I like to think that I was encouraging and complimentary. And I really don't mind getting messages and reviews requiring an update when they're nice.
Part of the review actually complained that I could have "at least updated for New Years."
Lol... I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that was a requirement.
if you dont like what they say, then ignore them. you wrote the story bc YOU wanted to not bc they told you to. you have the freedom to write what YOU want to and thats just too bad if someone else doesnt like it. if they dont like it, id say, go write their own damn story, bc fuck that shit. sorry for the rant
I actually would have quite welcomed a review where someone didn't like what I wrote... because that, I can deal with. I can deal with people having their opinions, and knowing their opinions is bound to benefit me in some way. I can't deal with people who read my story, complain about the slow updates, without even mentioning anything about the story itself.
And what kills me.... is I've made quite clear in my authors notes that I'm extremely busy at the moment, and I would only be able to write ever once and a while. And I just updated a little over two weeks ago... At least wait until it gets over a month to complain.
Lol... there's an easy way for that person to find and ending if they are tired of it-- stop reading! Seriously... sometimes I really don't get reviewers.
I mean, if I wanted an author to update, I would shower them with compliments, and perhaps beg, and tell them how much I'm craving an update. I wouldn't say things like, "The least you could have done was give us an update for New Years."
Or, "Could you get to writing the next chapter. That would be great, thanks."
lajdfloaudjfoajdfa!!!!
It's hard enough to stay commited to a fanfic when I have a thousand other things going on, and my original work that I would rather be writing. Honestly, they're lucky that I even update as often as I do, or that I haven't abandoned the story completely.
Ugh. I feel so complain-y. I blame the fact that I had to be at work at 5am this morning.
There are some people that think they can act in any way they please on the interweb. I once had some troll tell me to be nicer in my A/Ns (they weren't that bad, honest! ;P) and to be grateful that anyone would leave any kind of review, no matter how rude. Eh, I told them to shove it and I was the one supplying the product and that I didn't have to grovel to them. They just got nastier and nastier until I had to block them.

I got an anon asking me "Are you planning on ever ending this story?" just yesterday.
WHAT'S THE RUSH TO END IT??? SERIOUSLY!!!
These are the people that almost make me go "fuck the outline, fuck the plot arc, rocks fall and everyone dies and I'll go write something else now!"
But, you know, we can't do that. There are all the lovely people reading AND there's our own satisfaction of doing this and doing it well.
Venting is totally ok, though. (((♥)))
