I was looking back at this journal which I have abandoned, and noticed that you used to be an avid commenter on my posts.

How have you been??

Hey. Good to hear from you! :-)

I've had a great time in the last two years, been to Thailand, Scotland, Cambodia and of course working in between. I've learned that traveling by bike is much more intense than by car or plane which was not really surprising but you never know until you've tried. I learned to love south-east Asia. People there are great and still honor the simple things in live. Of course that has more to do with poverty than culture but lots of it has been lost in "old Europe". We met this monk in Phnom Penh who asked to just talk and we sat down in this temple for about an hour and talked. He was not trying to talk us into Buddhism or anything like that, he was just curious and so were we. How often do you meet open hearted people like that? Anyways, traveling to other countries caused me to reflect a lot on my own world which I also love. I put a few pictures on this journal in case you're really interested.

How have you been? Are you still writing?

Wow, traveling to such exotic locations! I have been dreaming about a worldwide tour for quite some time now, and I hope it's something I'll have the means to do in the next year or so. Maybe take 6 months off from whatever I'm doing to just see the world.

I've been well. Finished up my degree, and am now living in New York City but constantly wondering where my next city will be. As for writing, I do write from time to time, and would love to make it a career but not sure how.

Are you on facebook by the way?

Yeah, we met quiet a bunch of people traveling for several months or even a year and damn were we jealous. ;-) "Unfortunately" we love our jobs and don't get off for so long so we have to split that up and only go for 2 or 3 weeks at once. That's still better than not going at all, much more expensive, of course :-\. After Thailand and Cambodia in the last two years (and my g/f has been to Vietnam also) we'll go to Laos in February. Can't wait for it.

I'm not (yet) on facebook because I don't like how they concentrate way to much information on one platform for who knows to be accessed. Of course that has it's benefits but I'm being rather paranoid about it. Also I don't feel like I'm missing anything in life not being "there".

What degree are you holding now? Sorry.. I missed/forgot that part. ;-) How is New York? I heard it's very expensive. As for your next city: Many people (also Americans) go to Berlin because it's cheap, nice (probably depending on what you like, though) and it feels like every cultural movement has a home
