How do you make Electronic music?

After seeing a few Djs play--from KiloWatts to Pitch Black to OTT, and watching what they do on stage with various gizmos, I've began to wonder what it takes to make Electronic music and what are the basic and various devices one uses. Anyone?

I have produced electronic music mostly through the program csound. This is *not* the way that most people do it. Reason, Fruity Loops, and Ableton Live are all first steps.
