As noted in one of my previous journal entries, the Sunday gaming group is down again to two (2) players. So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to do a bit of recruiting here on my blog to start the new year once more

Well, there are various reasons for this. Primary among them, I suppose, is that no one wants to play these particular games (though I don't see that as being the reason).
As for living in the small, dying town...you seem to be doing all right when it comes to players, judging by the recent gaming entries on your blog.

It's good to have players that are open up to play anything that the GM feels like running. Once you play the same thing over and over again, it gets to be some kind of rut.
A long time ago when Smiths Falls, ON had Hershey, Stanley Tools and the RCC going. I had three groups running throughout the week plus my Saturday game.

The problem with switching systems every five sessions or so is that players never have their characters actually develop and progress as characters (not just in terms of experience points or whatever the game of the moment calls them).
I like running the same game for long periods of time, but player attention spans being what they are... I still have fond memories of the old DragonQuest campaign that spanned a good 30 years of real time, and had the players playing their own characters' grandchildren. The players really enjoyed those games too, and have good memories of that time in the then to become Friday gaming group.
I just can't figure out why I can't recruit two or three players for the Sunday group, though... *sigh*
