GenCon 2011 Final Thoughts

Aug 16, 2011 16:42

As promised, here are some final thoughts and a bit of perspective on this year's GenCon Indy for 2011. Think of these as random Musings and Ravings (sic) about the convention, and some pics of the loot that I acquired there this year. To read the report on my final day at GenCon, check out this journal entry.

That's a good pile of loot! I enjoyed our brief chat and hope to see you again someday.

There was so much else I could have bought for myself at GenCon this year, but promised myself some limits on spending. I got most of what I was looking for, and to be honest, the t-shirt selection could have been better, but I bought a few that I wanted. So that's cool.

I enjoyed meeting you as well, Steve, and while our chat was brief, it was intense for what we talked about. I do hope to see you some day again, perhaps at a future GenCon? :)

After my first Gen-Con I was horribly addicted,
as there were so many really great people I knew I'd only see there and then once a year.

I wouldn't worry that there were things you missed, it is impossible to do all of Gen Con, its just too big. Maybe if it had another 4 days to it, but then there would just be more stuff to do!

This wasn't my first GenCon, but it had been three years since I last went to one. Like you, there were a whole lot of people there that I knew I'd only meet there, and I was glad to get the chance to meet the Cubicle 7 folks and my friends from Exile Games, Adamant Entertainment, Greymalkin Designs, and Triple Ace Games, most of whom I had never met before (except for the Exile and Greymalkin folks), though I had passing acquaintance with folks from several of the other companies. I didn't see too many of my LJ and Twitter friends, but that was due to the lack of a mobile and my somewhat hindered mobility as well ( ... )
