There may be reasons you can't do it, but I have my journal set up to only allow comments from LJ friends by default.

I can set the journal to allow comments by LJ friends by default, but I've got several folks who post comments to the journal who have no intention of taking LJ accounts just so that they can comment.

Ah, well, c'est la vie. :)

The russian overlords that took over LJ don't seem to be interested in anyway to fix that. They rather put more "in your face" ads.

Btw, I'd set comment to "moderated" that way good thing can still go through. But that's just me.

I've got it set to "Moderated", but it still means having to deal with the spam. So either going to have to go friends only, or just deal with it as is.

Btw, who are you?
