You're right about odd choices - Rise Against and even weirder for Blues (if that was possible), Cancer Bats. But still...

Looking through the list I'd suggest giving Rev Peytons Big Damn Band a go if you get the chance. Haven't seen them live but their recorded stuff has been good.

Well, the assumption is that folks at the concert want an interesting and eccletic mix of music with the blues as the basis, but some of the artists that have performed over recent years just don't qualify in that regard.

Hadn't heard of Rev Peyton's Big Damn Band before, but will see what I can do to check them out. Thanks for the advice, and thoughts, on this. :)

Give them a listen on YouTube (I'm sure they are up there) and see what you think. From your description of what you are looking for I think they will be worth your time.

My preference is very much for the swampy stripped down delta sound rather than lots of widdley guitars and a keyboard.

I just listened to a couple of tracks, and will take the chance to listen and watch some more tracks on Youtube when I get home. You're right; at first listen, I rather like them.

Quite fond of that style of music myself, the swampy blues, one of the reasons I like MonkeyJunk so much.
