Have been catching up with a bit of the news, and came across the story that Amazon announced that it sells more e-books than printed books. Andrew Irvine, who teaches at the University of British Columbia, responded to this about why books will survive.

Also, books will survive because Picard is still reading them however many centuries in the future that is. *nod* (Although such habits are considered 'old-fashioned' and 'out-dated' by then. But still. It's on Star Trek, so it must be so. ;P)

If one of the "big" eBook vendors/licensers goes dark, and millions of people can't access their "bought and paid for" books any more, that will have a huge impact on this business model ( ... )
