I meant to get this blog entry written and up right after the weekend, but doctor appointments and a couple of other crises kept me from it. Ah well, better late than never, right? :)

I like the idea of this game.  This is what made Empire of the Petal Throne so interesting:  There’s a world beyond Middle Earth, folks!

- You may recall my mentioning Yaquinto’s Man, Myth and Magic for the same reason:  As would not happen again until the days of your game, you could cross the whole known world of Imperial Rome and never need to change currency.  Yet what an amazing tapestry of peoples and myths (and monsters therefrom, in the game) you would find!  The discovery of an unmistakably Egyptian faience bead in a British passage grave rocked archaeologists (so to speak).  Egyptians themselves were probably never in Britain but obviously could have been.

[And then there are the Basque people, who are Mayans.  They just are.  How they hopped across the ocean is anyone’s guess, but ethnically identical (that profile! Those noses!), their farming implements, and most of all their language, which is utterly unrelated to anything European but - get this - a Basque acolyte to a Jesuit priest in the Yucatan peninsula acted as ( ... )
