As mentioned yesterday, the Friday night gaming group got together last night, Saturday, in order to do some playtesting.
While I can't go into much detail, the Friday nighters showed up and we got down to things. The game system playtest involved some potential new rules for the
Atlantis: The Second Age RPG, particularly for combat with beasties, and things went pretty well.
After the players determined which characters they would play to test the rules in question, I went over with them the basic dice mechanics once more, talked to them at length about the combat system, and then we got down to it. To test the rules changes, I put the player characters up against some animals, some twisty animals, several creatures, and a few two-legged opponents.
I have to say that the players rather liked the changes incorporated, and found that it made creatures and other opponents more motivated by natural instincts and the like, fit the mundane animals well, and was to their liking.
I have no idea whether these changes will be implemented in a future supplement for the
Atlantis game, but I sure hope so. :)
So a fun night was had by all, and the players told me afterwards that this just makes them want to play
Atlantis: The Second Age even more! Same here! Now, if I just had a physical copy of the rulebook...
