A travesty!

This makes me want to weep for mankind. Way to encourage our future generations to be lazy and illiterate. It's a travesty, I tell you, and nothing less. I am appalled.

In MUCH better news: Ginormous congratulations to thestickywicket, esq. I think her flist has run riot with the news today. Seriously, we're all kvelling over here. Way to go!

Oh. My. GOD!!! OK, that settles it. Someone's gotta find some cash for me (and you!) to go over there and kick some ASS.

GAH.

If it makes you feel any better, I passed the article on to the head of our English department, who was suitably appalled as well--but then we couldn't resist laughing at the idea of giving kids a version of Shakespeare written entirely in text messages, and waiting to see how long it would be before they'd beg for the real thing. I think most of them probably would!!

For real! Text-speak gives me a headache. I loathe it. I can't imagine reading it for longer than "Am L8. CU soon."
