This one of the best things I've read in a while. You create such a detailed world with so little fuss or clutter. The language is clear, fluid, vital. The characters are dense and living, their relationships so tangible. It's really a master class in writing, and in writing good sci-fi too. Dewees becoming solid when Frank fixes him, is such a great visual metaphor for them all coming back to life when they reunite. And also for how Gerard comes alive with Frank. It's wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I really enjoyed this! I loved the way you balanced the humor with the tense lack of communication, and the way you revealed their history together. And I loved how they all chipped away at Gerard's defenses in different ways.

"We're in a jar of pickles," Gerard says.

SUCH a great line. And I loved Dewees, of course, and the tradition of Dewees not being gone but not exactly being ALIVE continuing on. <3333333
