Now, I remember seeing the end of that movie and I'm sure that Spock does not die. He gets reincarnated as a Whale. I wouldn't consider that death; its more like evolution. Like when the soul hunters try to take the souls of that race they think are dying, but really they are just evolving. It's like that.
