In deference to your point, there are tremendous obstacles to getting an abortion at 7 months. I should add that in 1997, less than a tenth of a percent of abortions occurred after the 24th week, and my understanding is that the statistics have only improved in the last 10 years. Furthermore, a very large percentage of late-term abortions occur in more conservative states because of the difficulty of procuring an abortion at an earlier stage.
In Massachusetts, you can't have an abortion after 24 weeks unless necessary to save the life of the mother or prevent grave physical impairment. In the event that it does occur, the doctors have to try to preserve the life of the baby.

If every effort is made to save the life of the child, it's not an abortion.
There is no case where a late-term abortion is necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother.
A caesarian section is quicker than an abortion.
