Okay, so you know how much I love
MAD Movies. You maybe though I was just 'mad' for the ones resembling openings/endings but no, I also love the ones completely fandrawn... and there's a serious lack of them in the TB/X department (Do them people! I know there's TB/X fans that can draw much better than me!).
So, I wanted to make one. Okay, another one if you count the Caramelldansen and the Agony ones... ^_-
Anyway, I got lot of ideas, started making one but... it kind of refused to turn out right. Then, when I've almost gave up, I saw an APH one and... it gave me new inspiration.
So I began a completely different one who basically retell the SeiSu story.
117 draws.
Yes, I'm that insane.
And I've also added subs in case you want to understand what's going on in the song (no, I didn't translate it, you know I fail at Japanese...).
It's far from perfect but I've tried my best so, if you enjoyed it, I'll apprecciate if you'll tell me (just remember I've a sensitive heart okay? don't be too cruel with me... ;_;).
Or, if you're the silent type, would you mind posting a link to it somewhere in your journal/webpage/whatever?
Commenting and linking would be the best but I know I'm being greedy here... :P
The song I used is 'From Y To Y' by Hatsune Miku, who, if you don't know, is a
vocaloid.

You started walking away, turning your back on me
without us exchanging any words.
Within my wavering heart, I cried out like a child:
"Don't go, don't go, hey..."
I started walking away, turning my back on you
I have to go before these tears drop.
Pretending I dislike being too happy,
I tried to act strong and let go of my ideal future...
Future...
Future...
Future...
Future...
Future...
I can't get back my wish...
Wish...
Wish...
Wish...
Wish...
My small one-room feels a little larger,
It seems to widen a crack in my heart
For a fraction of a minute or a second which I feel a little too long
I want to stay with you.
The world doesn't even allow me to wish for it, does it?
Even a single lie I told
Will go and lead you to tears.
I've sinned so many times that I can't count them all.
One time was when I touched your hand.
One time was when I tried to live gently next to you.
Withing the limited memory of time
That lets go of the past whenever collecting memories of the present
My existence that had only settled there
From your memory, it will be erased
Can we never turn back again?
Is this the beginning or the end?
The night I'm sleeping in a large bed isn't over yet
Alone, I'm gonna dream again
A dream in which I trace your memories.
I've sinned so many times that I can't count them
One time was when I touched your hand
One time was when I tried to live gently next to you
I'll atone with the pain of my loneliness,
So let me stay gently in your memory.
I wish we could meet up again like we used to be
And then go hand in hand
And untill it's that time,
"See you again..."
Notes:
About the title... TB1999 is the name I use to refer to the whole of Sei&Su story (TB&X). It's a personal thing. The 'From S. To S.' part is inspired to the title of the song used... and by the fact that Sei&Su's name incidentally have the same initials. The song has bits that could refers to Subaru but some that could refer to Seishiro so I though the title would fit just fine.
Yes, there's a serious lack of Hokuto. Sorry Hokuto-chan, not enough space for everything... Kamui and Fuma don't even show up... -_-
Also yes, I'll go in with the assumption TRC Sei&SU are the reincarnations of TB/X Sei&Su. I know that's not the case but a girl can hope, can't she?
The character design is more anime based than manga based... The same goes for the colours.
In case you're wondering why some scenes are coloured... for Sei&Su meeting each other gave colour to their monochrome lives. Seishiro's betrayal returned them both to a monochrome life until their TRC versions met again. Some things however remained coloured in all this monochrome... tears, blood, sakura petals and the red thread of destiny tying them (okay, it's Subaru's bandage but you can see the symbolism here, can't you?)
Seishiro's suit sometimes is white because in the manga it was grey. I went strictly with black and white so grey was turned into white. I know, I could have turned it into black but, for variety's sake, I chose white (a vague symbolism could also be seen considering the scenes in which this happen... ^_-). Personal taste.
Some scenes are from 'Nippon Youkai Junrei Dan' a tale in Shoten 5 that worked as 'pilot episode' for TB. In case you're wondering in it is described Sei&Su second meeting at the Ikebukuro Station, how Subaru ended up in Seishiro's clinic meeting him again and a date they had in which Seishiro gave him roses.
Oh and yes, I removed the gloves to TRC Subaru on purpose. After all nowhere it was said he too couldn't remove them.
Yes, there's a time jump between the Nakano scene where Subaru clenched his fists and the following in which Seishiro's smoking (which is basically when Fuma told him Subaru's wish isn't the one he think it is...). The scene works even if you don't catch it.
I've let the cigarette exchange scene between Sei&Su. It's an indirect kiss after all!
Seishiro's expression as he kills changes... but sadly you can't see it so well. It goes from Setsuka's death (smile with closed eyes), to the child he killed before his first meeting with Subaru (emotionless smile with open eyes), to Hokuto's death (no smile at all).
The scene in which Seishiro though to live gently next to Subaru is the one in the hospital, when they talk about the effect of organ transplant. I've been in doubt if to use that scene or the one in which Subaru slept at Seishiro's house (which I deem meaningful because something upset Seishiro afterward to the point he had to break his own mirror...). In the end the first one seemed to work better and the second one was moved to the 'giving up my wish' part.
As said before Subaru's bandages turn red because I used them to represent the red thread of destiny that connect them. Letting it go reprexent how it's going to be cut by the dead of one of them... ;_;
Parallelism with Sei&Su first meeting and the last one. I also wanted to make a parallelism between Seishiro wispering Subaru his last words and the type he told him the rules of the bet but I didn't manage to fit it in... -_-
LOL The sleeping scene in original would have had Subaru dreaming Seishiro was in bed with him... but since my mother said she wanted to see the finished product of all my work I tamed it down to Subaru dreaming Seishiro was tucking him in...
Yes, Subaru's sin is accepting Seishiro's eye and therefore his role and position in order to 'live with him'.
Also the tree under which TRC Sei&Su meet should have been larger (which would have explained better why they didn't notice each other immediately)... but for technical problems it was resized.
As for my final requests at the end of the video... well, no matter if there's no hope to get an affirmative answer, there's no crime in asking anyway, there's it?
