The road less travelled

Well folks, I've come to a decision that for good, bad or indifferent is worth considering. I've been away from the SCA, Caid, Dun Or and the (remains) of The Cross & Dragon for almost six months. In March after Estrella has come and gone, the kids and I will come back to play a little.

Might I suggest you come to our first ever West Kingdom Rapier Championship as one of your future rapier events? You know that you are well-liked and respected here in the West and there would be no pressure--you could just play--and only play as much as you feel comfortable since you'd just be a person who shows up to support the event--not win it. (I think there will be any number of us in that category!!!)

It will be held at March Crown the weekend of March 23-25.

Think about it.

It would be so great to meet either or both of you there - we live only about half an hour north of the site and we're talking about day-tripping the event.

It is indeed the kind of event that I'd certainly enjoy. I've had a great time at West Kingdom events. It's also good to know that I'm looked upon kindly there. Given the photoshoot/goth picnic two weeks later, I'm probably going to pass. It's long drive to Red Bluff from Lancaster.

Most likely, I'll be going to Al Said Anniversary on the 31st March. I won their Rapier Championship last year, and have generally done a poor job of supporting them due to my event commitments last year and the burn out period.

I'm looking forward to hearing how your return goes. Slow sounds good.

Very very VERY slow is the key to this. I'm not feeling the least skittish. I think it's more deliberate in my manner. My photographic activities have fully taken center stage. The SCA is going to be a fun distraction or one I can do without.
